Um.

This morning.

Via Eilish O’Regan in the Irish Independent:

It’s a tempting prospect. But could a speedy roll-out of Covid-19 booster shots be the key to avoiding a return of restrictions this winter and saving Christmas?

It takes just one booster jab this time around to reboot the defences of a fully vaccinated person in only two weeks.

Boosters could potentially do a lot of the heavy lifting. But how far across the population do you go with the offer of a booster? It’s a dilemma that will not go away.

It’s for your own elf.

The Ballyboyz – Balloween

And now for something completely brilliant.

Take it away, lads:

“The Ballyboyz stay nostalgic yet cold this Winter with their new track BALLOWEEN. The tune showcases the two brothers swapping verses over a Thriller beat that just sticks. BALLOWEEN music video creates an eerie suspense throughout the watch.

“The BallyBoyz bawl out in true hip-hop fashion paying tribute to the movie culture and its association with rap music throughout the ages. Happy Balloween!!”

The film was directed by Dee The Antisocial and the music was written and performed by Spaceman Steve and Dee.

Beat by DJ Green.

Nick says: Ballyboyz in the hood.

Friday: Hail Santa

Somefinn – Contact

Falling for a dancer.

Alt.rock hopefuls Somefinn team up with choreographer Arlene Caffrey for this panoramic video directed by Darren Finn to accompany their third single.

Singer Paul Finn (ex-The Flaws) says:

“Contact is about seeking connection with someone. With another person. It came from an old song idea, which has been through many iterations – the one thing that was consistent, no matter how many times the song was rewritten, was this cry: ‘CONTACT’. That was the thing, then, to build the song around.”

Nick says: Somefinn in the way she moves.

Thank Philo it’s Friday.

All you good people deserve another crack at my weekly music shenanigans, even though the voucher is a thing of of the past/future.

So without further ado, this week I want to know, with Winter closing in, what’s your favourite song about or which mentions Winter?

Here’s mine.

Please include video links if possible.

Lines MUST close on Saturday at Midday!

Nick says: Good luck!

Meanwhile…

Alison Goldfrapp – A&E

Last week, I asked you for your favourite song to dance to. Glaxiapolizia won my esteem with this entry.

“From first-up floor-filler to clearing the sticky dancefloor…before they launch into Amhran na bhFiann and the lights come up to highlight the bleary-eyes of dishevelled Dishco-dancers full of dandruff and regret after the mandatory Copper’s-binge-feed of 8 pints, too many WKDs & a rake of JagerMeisters: the sublime Alison Goldfrapp – Have a lovely day, peeps…!”

Nick says: Thanks all.
