Behold: the 1959 Lister Jaguar Sports Racer – a tube-framed sportswear made by driver Brian Lister in Cambridge, powered by a Jaguar straight six engine and raced by the team of US driver Briggs Cunningham (which won the SCCA C-Modified National Championship in it).

Still wearing its original white and blue striped Briggs Cunningham livery, the car – which was also driven by British racing legend Sir Stirling Moss – fetched €960,000 at auction ten years ago.

It goes under the hammer again (for considerably more) next January.

Behold: the Mil-Spec Hummer H1 Baja SUV – a luxury take on the military vehicle with an aluminium body, hand stitched leather interior, keyless entry, aircon and remote starting – powered by a 500 horsepower Duramax diesel engine with  six-speed transmission.

Yours from a company that specialises in this sort of thing for €217,000.

Behold: Treow Brycg House at Kingsburg Beach on the south coast of Nova Scotia – a brooding structure redolent of some futuristic military installation but actually modelled on the vernacular gambrel-roofed barns of the area.

Designed both to resist and embrace the unpredictable coastal climate and control solar gain, the steel-walled house – on two levels with a separate interstitial zone for circulation – is slatted with brise soleils and clad in darkened aluminium.
