A response from chairman of Nama Frank Daly to the Northern Ireland Finance and Personnel Committee this evening.

It follows the publication of the Stormont committee’s report on the sale of Northern Ireland’s property loan portfolio, Project Eagle – which was critical of Nama and Finance Minister Michael Noonan.

Earlier this afternoon.

In Dublin.

A piper leads a SIPTU Dublin District Council-organised march – involving people dressed up in Irish Citizen Army uniforms – from Liberty Hall to Marino College of Further Education on North Strand Road, where a plaque dedicated to those who served with the ICA, between 1913 and 1923, was unveiled outside the college.

Forbidden Fruit – Saturday day passes on sale now
Saturday June 4th, Royal Hospital, Kilmainham

01. Day passes are now on sale for the Saturday of Forbidden Fruit, happening June 4 at Kilmainham’s Royal Hospital.

02. As covered in our round-up last week, the day is being headlined by psych-rock iconoclasts Tame Impala, off the back of 2015’s breakthrough Currents LP, math-rock elder statesmen Battles, soul collective Jungle, house duo Tale of Us, and a live performance from minimalist experimental techno duo Kiasmos.

03. Added to the line-up are grime pioneer Skepta, US rapper Freddie Gibbs, and a live audiovisual show from Dublin house/turntablism/etc. man Kormac and collaborators.

04. More to be announced, of course. We’ll keep you updated with more line-up announcements as and when we get them. €59.50 at the usual outlets, while stocks last, etc.

Verdict: Skepta is an influential name to add to any festival bill, and should help pique interest in day tickets. Kormac’s various live excursions have also been fest favourites, while Freddie Gibbs adds weight to proceedings. Bodes well for further announcements.

Buy West.

Sligo-based  artist and ‘sheet favourite Annie West writes:

If Broadsheet are feeling all sentimental and homesick this St. Patrick’s Day why not send them a nice walking map of Sligo walking trails?

Maybe the urge to walk will overwhelm them and we can repopulate the county with gifted, charming, generous, sentimental paddies.

Prints are really big (approx A2 with a border) and are printed on 285 gsm Hahnemuhle Torchon museum grade paper and using archival inks that won’t fade even if you do. We ship anywhere in the world for free. Anywhere.

A statement from Belfast property developer Gareth Graham.

Mr Graham has settled his court action against US company Cerberus, the firm which eventually bought Nama’s Northern Ireland property loan portfolio, Project Eagle – which had a par value of €5.7billion – for €1.6billion.

Hmmm.

Tonight and tomorrow.

The Trinity Activist Festival, organised by TCDSU President Lynn Ruane, above, will take place in Dublin.

Joyce Dignam, in the University Times, writes:

“The festival opens today at the Science Gallery, with an Art and Activism talk in the Paccar Theatre at 6pm.

The two days will be jam packed with exciting events, notably the keynote speech by Jóhanna Sigurðardóttir and Jónína Leósdóttir at 1.30pm on Saturday in the Edmund Burke lecture hall.

Sigurðardóttir was the first female Prime Minister of Iceland as well as being the first openly gay head of government in the world. She is joined by her wife, Leósdóttir, a playwright and novelist among other things. Both women are advocates of change who travel the world to address issues facing the LGBT community.

The festival features events linked to current events in both Ireland and across Europe. Pertinent issues such as the housing crisis will be discussed with Dr Rory Hearne at 3.15pm on Saturday.

The refugee crisis will be explored with Dr Fintan Sheerin and Prof Gillian Wiley on Saturday at 11.15am.

The event I’m most looking forward to is “Promoting Peace, Human Rights & Neutrality” with John Lannon and Shannon Watch, which is also on at 3.15pm on Saturday.”
