The stuffini of nightmares.

Am an Ghátair – a new series on TG4  of tales of the unexpected from the War of Independence.

Producer Ciara Nic Chormaic writes:

Am an Ghátair looks at two personal and stranger than fiction stories from the war of independence period, one is about a bleeding statue in Templemore and the other is an IRA kidnapping of a child in 1920. The one called ‘Real Mary’ is the face of one of the original statues which supposedly bled tears of blood. It was discovered in an attic and given to us when we were researching the story!

This is embroidery.

Figurative artist Cayce Zavaglia applies her experience as a painter to these unbelievably detailed portraits. Each one begins with a photoshoot of between 100 and 150 shots of the subject, from which she chooses the best, then recreates it on a 20 x 25cm Belgian linen canvas with one-ply embroidery thread.

The shots above are from both sides of the same canvases.

It’s unusually good.

Myles Manley & the Little People – Easter Morning

Tony Flynn writes:

I was hoping I might be able to bring your attention to this music video which I produced for Irish artist, Myles Manley. The video was directed by Bob Gallagher, and was made for a very low budget, shooting over the past month. The video looks at the two dimensional relationship between audience and subject, through a series of compositions posed in the style of Caravaggio paintings.

Isn’t it well for you.

And do you like tay?

Darragh Genockey writes

I’m trying to get Irish expats to send in clips from where they’re currently living to include in a music video for Róisín O’s ‘Tea Song’. We’ve got some nice footage already (I’ve included a nice snapshot from New York, above), but we need about 10 more people on board to get the video completed.

Anyone?
