This afternoon.

In time for Christmas.

A new soap launch.

Rob Kenny writes:

After two years of research, planning and development, Co. Meath based the Handmade Soap Company are delighted to today announce the launch of their pioneering new indulgent product range: Anam.

Derived from the Irish word for ‘soul’, the new Anam range transcends any existing environmental technologies.

The hero products are a lifelong, ornate hand lotion and hand wash glass bottle. Once your soap and lotion are running low, you simply re-order & refill the contents to your glass bottle, which arrive in a 100% compostable pouch, to be placed in your food bin.

The glass bottles can be filled with the contents of your compostable pouch time and time again

The Dubliners.

Their final ever performance in Dublin

To be shown on Christmas day on TG4.

Deirdre Ní Choistín writes:

When five bearded balladeers started playing together in O’Donoghue’s Pub in 1962 little did they know the musical adventures that lay ahead or the lasting impression they would leave on the music world.

“The Dubliners”, a legendary folk group blessed with the iconic voices of Ronnie Drew and Luke Kelly and gifted with the musicality of Barney McKenna, John Sheahan and Ciaran Burke.

On a special night in January 2012, their melodic magic once again filled the air during what was to be their final ever performance in Dublin.

After 50 years on the road, Barney and John, the last surviving members of the original line up, decided to set sail on one last adventure. The Dubliners, which now included Sean Cannon, Eamonn Campbell and Patsy Watchorn were beginning a year-long 50th anniversary celebration.

The stage was set for a unique and memorable night inside the architectural splendour of Dublin’s Christ Church Cathedral.

with special guests Declan O’Rourke, Maire Breathnach, Neil Martin and Seán Keane of the Chieftains

1. 80 Million Votes

No incumbent president in nearly a century and a half has gained votes in a re-election campaign and still lost. President Trump gained more than ten million votes since his 2016 victory, but Biden’s appeal was so substantial that it overcame President Trump’s record support among minority voters. Biden also shattered Barack Obama’s own popular vote totals, really calling into question whether it was not perhaps Biden who pulled Obama across the finish lines in 2008 and 2012.

2. Winning Despite Losing Most Bellwether Counties

Biden is on his way to winning the White House after having lost almost every historic bellwether county across the country. The Wall Street Journal and The Epoch Times independently analyzed the results of 19 counties around the United States that have nearly perfect presidential voting records over the last 40 years. President Trump won every single bellwether county, except Clallam County in Washington.

. Biden Trailed Clinton Except in a Select Few Cities

As one pollster put it, in those “big cities in swing states run by Democrats…the vote even exceeded the number of registered voters.” In the states that mattered most, so many mail-in ballots poured in for Biden from the cities that he put up record-breaking numbers and overturned state totals that looked like comfortable leads for President Trump.

4. Biden Won Despite Democrat Losses Everywhere Else

Randy DeSoto noted in The Western Journal that “Donald Trump was pretty much the only incumbent president in U.S. history to lose his re-election while his own party gained seats in the House of Representatives.” Now that’s a Biden miracle!

5. Biden Overcame Trump’s Commanding Primary Vote

In the past, primary vote totals have been remarkably accurate in predicting general election winners. Political analyst David Chapman highlighted before the election…No incumbent who has received 75 percent of the total primary vote has lost re-election. President Trump received 94 percent of the primary vote in 2020.

The 4 Of Us – She Hits Me

Continuing our series of underrated Irish music since 1960, reader Bertie Blenkinsop has a thing for The 4 Of Us, who are led by brothers Declan and Brendan Murphy from Newry, County Down.

Their debut album Songs For The Tempted in 1989 produced their signature hit Mary but Bertie has plumped for the single She Hits Me from their second album Man Alive (1992).
