What you may need to know:

1. Charlie Is My Darling is the ‘lost’ Rolling Stones movie, shot on a two day tour of Ireland in September 1965 and rarely seen since. It’s being exhumed on DVD for the band’s 50th anniversary.

2. The Stones didn’t play Ireland again until Slane in 1982 (supported by J. Geils Band, George Thorogood and The Destroyers and, you guessed it, The Chieftains), then two shows in The Point in 2003 and Slane again in 2007.

3. The other great lost Stones movie, Robert Frank’s Cocksucker Blues, remains officially M.I.A. save the occasional gallery – no, wait, it’s on YouTube.

What you may need to know.

1. ‘From the director of Horrible Bosses… And a producer of Ted’.

2. We LOVE Jason Bateman, an actor with impeccable comedy chops that Hollywood keeps putting in shit sandwitches like The Switch (2010) and The Change-Up (2011). Thankfully, he’s got that Arrested Development revival on the horizon.

3. Melissa McCarthy was the Oscar-nominated break-out star of Bridesmaids (2011). She also stars in the HILARIOUS sitcom Mike & Molly… Get it? They’re FAT.

4. That staple of American motion picture comedy, the swift knee to the nuts, occurs at 1’40. There’s got to be a thesis in there somewhere.

5. With slight tweaks, this could be a psycho thriller starring Ryan Reynolds and Phillip Seymour Hoffman.

Release Date: February 2013

Thanks Baz

What you may need to know:

1. Acclaimed Asian director Park Chan-wook did the classic Oldboy (2003), soon due an ill-advised remake from Spike Lee. Now Park is making his belated US film-making debut.

2. Nicole Kidman’s been associated with more turkeys over the past than Bernard Matthews; now she appears to be going through her Joan Crawford phase.

3. Name that face, Part One: Kidman’s daughter is fellow Aussie Mia Wasikowska, from Alice In Wonderland (2010) and Albert Nobbs.

4. Name that face, Part Two: Wasikowska’s creepy uncle with the excellent eyebrows  is Matthew Goode, from Watchmen (2009). Tom Cruise would have been a better choice.

5. The movie was written by Wentworth Miller, star of choice TV guilty pleasure Prison Break.

6. Forecast: promising, with the likeliness of scenery chewing.
