The Curragh Plains, Co Kildare

Eamonn writes:

“Hundreds of frogs have been found dead at the natural pond on the Curragh Plains in Co. Kildare, known as Lough Bawn (the White Lake). The Herpetological Society of Ireland collected samples from the frogs and the water and are awaiting the results. Lough Bawn is associated with St. Brighid and is thought to be the Lake of Cream, resulting from an overflow of milk when the saint prayed for a miracle to allow her offer hospitality to an unexpected visit from a number of bishops.”
