Sandycove Beach earlier this week

Earlier this week Dún Laoighaire-Rathdown County Council issued a swimming ban at Seapoint, Sandycove and Forty Foot beaches following an overflow from wastewater treatment plants in in Dublin Bay.

Dublin City Council issued a similar swimming ban for Dollymount Strand following an overflow from the treatment plant in Ringsend.

Sandycove Beach sample showed elevated levels of e.coli /enterocci & will remain closed pending additional results due Friday

Fresh water test results are also expected to be returned for Dollymount today.
