Another witness said: “From the stand it looked really bad. The Eunan’s player was down for a long time. “He was being kicked in the head at one stage.”

Nothing.

But when the case was called, at Naas District Court, Chief Superintendent Pat Mangan told Judge Desmond Zaidan that the cases against the famous footballer [Darragh O’Se, above] were being withdrawn, on the instructions of the DPP.

“Why?” the judge asked.

Chief Supt Mangan explained documents had been shown to gardai to indicate that Mr O Se’s insurance and driving licence were in order.

The charges of dangerous driving and drink-driving were withdrawn for “procedural reasons”.

See?

Cookstown player Jason Quinn spits on Finuge player Paul Galvin (above):

P.S its a real dude in the nip…there are spectators who can verify the gentleman’s authenticity…

Yikes.

Former Olympian and runner Jerry Kiernan doesn’t think so.

Because he thinks GAA players don’t train hard enough.

Talking to Newstalk’s Off The Ball last night, Jerry said:

“I think the GAA are the richest sporting organisation in the country, they should be well able to look after themselves.”

“I don’t particularly like the GAA, I don’t like football in particular. But I watched a couple of the games, bits of the games over the weekend and what struck me was actually how unfit players were.”

“We’re giving so much prominence to a sport that I feel they don’t actually deserve it.”

“GAA players don’t have the right commitment to fitness. I don’t have a high opinion of their fitness. I don’t have a high opinion of their commitment to fitness.”

Brave man.

Footballer Aaron Cunningham of Crossmaglen GAA Club.

“There is no place for it whatsoever. You have the likes of my father [Inter-County player Joey Cunningham], he played football as well. I think he was the first black player to play in Croke Park. Jason Sherlock came through it. I’m sure you could talk to a handful of boys and they’ve all had some sort of racist abuse. And as I say, it happened out there today and it’s absolutely disgusting.”

Earlier this year, two footballers from the Duffry Rovers club in Wexford were suspended for two months each after being found guilty of racially abusing Wexford underage dual player Lee Chin.
