A tribute to the late Phillip Seymour Hoffman by writer/director/editor Caleb Slain featuring clips from every film the actor has done. Slain sez:

Compiling his legacy has been one of the most challenging experiences I’ve ever faced as an editor, and yet indescribably rewarding. I can assure you that after 22 years on screen and nearly fifty films, we now look at the work of an actor who never had a single dishonest moment on camera. I know because I’ve seen them all. Please take a breather and raise your glasses to one of our greatest.

The title still was created using 205 head shots from 47 of Hoffman’s films

OTBGer Gilroy paid tribute to the Off The Ball crew, including Eoin McDevitt, pictured interviewing Ireland’s soccer manager Giovanni Trapattoni above, after their resignation from the Newstalk show this afternoon. Just after the show started at 7pm, he said:

“All right, a very good evening to you. You’re welcome to tonight’s Off The Ball. First things first. We didn’t really expect to be here tonight but we are. That’s because the lads made a pitch to start the show every night at 6pm. Station management couldn’t accommodate that and the lads have decided to resign.
“All I really want to say about this now is that we’re going to miss our friends: Ken, Eoin, Mark, Simon and Murph are an amazing group of people to work with. They’ve helped change how sport is talked about in Ireland forever. They make great radio and they help make radio great. We’re all going to miss them and we wish them the very best of luck in the future.”

In fairness, an absolutely stonking rendition of Stairway To Heaven performed in late December at the Kennedy Center Honors by Ann Wilson and Nancy Wilson with the late John Bonham’s son Jason on drums and the Zeps in attendance.

Bonham performed with Heart and an all-star band — and the first Plant, Page and Jones knew of it was when they saw him walk on stage. He said: “It was so incredible to see their faces, sat there next to the president. The guys knew who was playing — but they didn’t know I would be on drums. Their faces lit up, and the smiles and tears… It was fantastic. What a way to close the show!”

There may be goosebumps.
