A new shuttle bus service has been launched for Limerick’s Covid-19 vaccination centre

By popular demand:

The Vaccine Shuttle Bus.

Via Live95FM:

The shuttle service follows widespread criticism on Live95 from listeners about a lack of transport to the vaccination centre at the Radisson Hotel as well as many people pointing out that anyone who used the bus service to Shannon would have to cross a busy dual carriageway in order to access the centre.

The service which is being provided by Bus Éireann in conjunction with the National Transport Authority (NTA), began yesterday and is currently transporting people to the Radisson Blu Hotel & Spa on the Ennis Road and will move to the new vaccination centre at Limerick Racecourse in Patrcikswell from June 7.

Professor Pete Lunn, Head of the Behavioural Research Unit, ESRI speaking to media at the Covid-19 update in the Department of Health today

This afternoon.

“Our social activity measure has recorded increases in multiple forms of social activity — there are more people going to work, more visits to homes, individuals meeting with more people from outside their household, and higher numbers of close contacts.

“This is to be expected as restrictions lift. However, the data also reveal that these increases are much stronger among people who have been vaccinated.

Most people who are not yet vaccinated are continuing to be cautious. Our data are consistent with the majority of people waiting until they are vaccinated before increasing their activity again.”

Pfizer has announced that it will begin using its west Dublin facility ‘as part of its supply chain’ for its Covid-19 vaccine. Up to $40m will be invested at Grange Castle (top) with 75 new jabs jobs.

In a statement, the pharma giant said:

“…Pfizer is now bringing on additional European-based facility to be a part of the global Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine supply chain network and Grange Castle (Ireland) will contribute to the worldwide supply of the vaccine.

“Pfizer’s Grange Castle facility will produce mRNA drug substance. Given the extensive technical transfer process, on-site development, equipment installation and regulatory approvals needed for the sites, we expect both facilities will be brought by the end of 2021.”

Via RTÉ News:

Strict conditions on the use of the Johnson & Johnson and AstraZeneca vaccines in people aged between 40 and 49 will mean people will have a choice to accept them, or wait for an mRNA vaccine, like Pfizer or Moderna…

…..The J&J and AstraZeneca vaccines will only be permitted to be used if an mRNA vaccine is not available at the time of vaccination.

People must be given a choice at that time on what vaccine to accept, with fully-informed consent…

….It expects to start vaccinations for this group of people later this month.

While Krispy Kreme is offering free doughnuts to people who are vaccinated against Covid-19, Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine is betting dollars to those donuts.

The state will give away millions of dollars to vaccinated people and full scholarships to vaccinated children through special lotteries.

It’s just the latest and perhaps most extreme of efforts being made by governments, employers, sports teams and others to motivate more people to get vaccinated.

Others have tried free doughnuts, beers and gifts cards. Now, Ohio is betting millions to improve its vaccination rate (CNN)
