An Irish Government airlift of emergency humanitarian supplies is unloaded in Mogadishu, the capital of Somalia, earlier this afternoon.

The 38 metric tonnes of emergency water and shelter materials from the Department of Foreign Affairs and Tradeís humanitarian depot in Dubai will be distributed by Concern to thousands of refugees in the famine-struck country. The airlift comprises 6,000 water tanks, 1,008 Kitchen Sets, 10,000 personal hygiene kits, 4,000 Mosquito Nets, 7,500 Blankets and 2,100 Tarpaulins for use in constructing emergency dwellings.
