NolanWe meet again.

Judge Martin Nolan has given a three-and-a-half year suspended sentence to former civil servant Patrick Corcoran, 53, after he was caught with over 7,000 images and 21 videos of child pornography.

Breakingnews.ie reports:

“Staff at the then Department of Arts, Sport and Tourism discovered attempts to download inappropriate material on Patrick Corcoran’s (53) computer during a software upgrade at the Kildare Street offices in December 2009. Members of the National Bureau of Criminal Investigation (NBCI) seized a laptop and computer at Corcoran’s desk and later found 5,951 pornographic images of children between eight and 14 years old during a search of his former North Circular Road home.”
…
“You are getting a chance, but if you re-offend, no mercy will be shown,” said Judge Nolan.”

Browsing the sports news this morning before doing literally anything else, as you do, and noticed that England U-21s beat Finland U-21s in a European qualifier in Milton Keynes (exciting!). Quick look at the report and this catches my eye: “Finland were then reduced to 10 men when Patrick O’Shaughnessy saw red.”
According to Wikipedia, our Patrick is “the son of an Irish painter” and he has a brother who plays for Metz in France. So there.

UPDATE: Still technically eligible to play for Ireland (see comments).

A sobering and revealing six minute clip of food mass production and consumption from the 2011 film SAMSARA that’s been doing the rounds of late. Producer Mark Magidson sez:

We are happy this clip has struck a chord with so many people, and we hope that the interest in this clip will lead viewers to see SAMSARA in its entirety. This clip represents only 6 minutes from a 100 minute long film, which was photographed in 25 countries and explores many other diverse aspects of the human experience. We would love for viewers to experience SAMSARA as a whole.
