Young Hearts Run Free: Easter Rising: Alasdair Roberts, Peadar Ó’Riada, Mossy Nolan @ The Fumbally Cafe (€15)

Nialler9 writes:

Young Hearts Run Free events typically take place in non-traditional venues like churches, galleries and the Co-op so The Fumbally Cafe is a perfect place for their Easter Sunday night’s proceedings which lean towards trad and folk.
On the lineup is Scottish folk singer Alasdair Roberts, Paedar Ó’Riada (son of Seán), and the under-rated Dublin modern folk musician Mossy Nolan and a screening of the Shimmy Marcus film Hannah Cohen’s Holy Communion (2012). All proceeds go to the Simon Community.

TBBOUTTLLI editor Aidan Coughlan’s middle right finger proved less flexible than his famous double-jointed thumb this week.

The break, hurt while lifting boxes of unsold bukes apparently GAA-related, has forced Aidan to wear an elaborate polio-era sling at tonight‘s buke launch in Hodges Figgis, Dawson Street [Dublin].

He had only returned to cycling following the theft of his back wheel during Broadsheet’s all-night US election coverage in November.

Aidan shall be greeting visitors with a solemn bow and delicately clasped hands in the Buddhist tradition.

Should you be in the area, please feel free to drop in  Optimum time would be around 6.30-8pm, we are assured.

There may be tay.

NESmash

A rather excellent 19-track mashup by Ithaca Audio including Tetris, the Doctor Who theme and various video game titles, TV shows, films and music videos, performed live on a series of specially configured NES controllers. Ithaca sez:

2013 marks 35 years of video game music (Space Invaders, released in 1978 was the first game to feature a continuous soundtrack). So we took the opportunity to take a look back at some of our favourite examples of video game music and build a 19 track mashup, combining them with some other tracks we love.
