The 112 year-old Provo Tabernacle in Utah, damaged by fire in 2010, has been saved from ruin by the Mormon church for conversion into a temple.
With its interior gutted, walls reinforced and supported in order to dig a two story basement, the entire structure (all 3,175 tonnes of it) now rests on stilts 40 feet (12m) in the air, appearing to ‘float’ from certain angles.

Yesterday’s Irish Mail on Sunday on the latest controversy surrounding Health Minister Dr James Reilly’s funding priorities.
Dr Reilly granted €190,000 for new dementia services at a daycare centre in Clarecastle, Co.Clare – despite the same service being provided two miles away, in Ennis, and despite the fact the HSE was ‘strongly opposed’ to the move.
The centre is in the constituency of Dr Reilly’s fellow Fine Gael TD Joe Carey.
