Somewhere in Cork.

Armed looters, burning mounds of Kittensoft, etc. out of shot.

Colum Cronin tweets:

Had to make a shop run this morning: There was an abundance of fresh fruit and veg and very few empty shelves, unless you want make-at-home popcorn! I know this isn’t as provocative as photos of empty shelves but it’s important to reassure people: Supply chain of food is working.

Behold: the Ultima RS – a street legal flyweight Le Mans prototype supercar available in various levels of trim from spartan to custom luxury and three engine configurations, from an impressive normally-aspirated 480bhp LT1 to a staggering 1,200bhp supercharged LT5.

0-100km/h takes 2.3 seconds, the top speed is 402km/h and the entry-level configuration will cost €107,000.

Obligatory COVID-19 tie-in: While entirely unconnected with the current pandemic, ’Ultima RS’ does have the same number of characters as ‘SARS-CoV-2’ if you leave out the hyphens.

An 84 second long exposure (from a revolving planet) capturing the flight of a Falcon 9 rocket and Dragon cargo spacecraft over Cape Canaveral Air Force Station shortly after launch, on a resupply mission bound for the International Space Station. To wit:

Beginning its return to a landing zone about 9 kilometers from the launch site, the Falcon 9 first stage boostback burn arcs toward the top of the frame. The second stage continues toward low Earth orbit though, its own fiery arc traced below the first stage boostback burn from the camera’s perspective, along with expanding exhaust plumes from the two stages. This Dragon spacecraft was a veteran of two previous resupply missions. Successfully returning to the landing zone, this Falcon 9 first stage had flown before too. Its second landing marked the 50th landing of a SpaceX orbital class rocket booster.

This tiny, 99 million year old, hummingbird-sized skull found preserved in amber is shedding new light on the period during which reptilian dinosaurs evolved into the early form of their modern day descendants – birds.

The creature had the small pupils and canonical eyes of a lizard and 23 razor sharp teeth in its upper jaw, suggesting that it ate insects.
