Behold: the Rolls Royce Boat Tail – a one-of-a-kind hand-crafted private commission celebrating the company’s return to coachbuilding 55 years after the Silver Cloud was replaced by the Silver Shadow.

The Boat Tail’s unique feature is an ‘aft deck’ that opens butterfly-style at the touch of a button to reveal a hosting suite with one side dedicated to aperitifs and the other to cuisine. Kitted out with bespoke Rolls Royce silverware and a champagne refrigerator, the rear is shaded by a parasol that deploys as required.

And if this vehicle’s not to your liking, you can commission your own from RR’s resurgent coachbuilding department.

Behold: supergiant star AG Carinae, about 20,000 light-years away in the southern constellation of Carina. But what are those clouds surrounding it? To wit:

The star’s emitted power is over a million times that of the Sun, making AG Carinae one of the most luminous stars in our Milky Way galaxy. AG Carinae and its neighbour Eta Carinae belong to the scarce Luminous Blue Variable (LBV) class of stars, known for their rare but violent eruptions. The nebula that surrounds AG Car is interpreted as a remnant of one or more such outbursts. This nebula measures 5 light-years across, is estimated to contain about 10 solar masses of gas, and to be at least 10,000 years old. This Hubble image, taken to commemorate Hubble’s 31st launch anniversary, is the first to capture the whole nebula, offering a new perspective on its structure and dust content. The LBVs represent a late and short stage in the lives of some supergiant stars, but explaining their restlessness remains a challenge to humanity’s understanding of how massive stars work.

An uncharacteristically existential animation from German educational design studio Kurzgesagt that asks “how do you know what to do with your life?’

Whoa.

To wit:

It’s so easy to get lost in your daily life: there are so many “urgent” and “annoying” things that you forget that actually every day is special, sort of. And even more so the days we have with friends and family. I know watching a video like this can hit pretty hard. But at least for me, the message it tries to convey does make me actually change my behavior. Reprioritize things. You know. Hope it had a similar effect for some of you.

Artist Aine Macken’s tribute to Philo in Crumlin.

Colum Cronin twquotez:

“When I’m in England, I say, I’m from Ireland.

When I’m in Ireland, I say, I’m from Dublin.

When I’m in Dublin, I say, I’m from Crumlin.

When I’m in Crumlin, I say, Leighlin Road.

When I’m in Leighlin Road, I say, I’m a Lynott.”

Behold: the Totem GT Electric – a tribute to the 1960s Alfa Romeo Giulia GTA by Italian automotive startup Totem Automobili, which describes it as ‘the most advanced restomod in the world’.

Fair enough. This all-electric handmade prototype (from which 20 production models will follow) generates 518bhp and will do 245km/h with a100km/h time of 3.4 seconds and 360km of range from full charge.
