Jack Jones writes:

Rock icon Liam Gallagher answers 73 questions while taking a brisk stroll through London’s Hampstead Heath.

Garbed in his traditional dress, a black parka jacket, Liam cruises through the Heath, petting dogs while talking about Oasis, John Lennon, his brother, Blur, and his children.

This episode was shot entirely in one attempt—no rehearsal, no advance peek at the questions.

Having nailed it straight out of the gate, Liam walks off legs akimbo, arms swinging side-to-side into the midday sun….

Susie Q – I Like The Way

Good times never seemed so good.

That’s the vibe off the life- and love-affirming new video from Susan Quirke (top) aka Susie Q who shares home video footage of her and her husband Ruairi having the time of their lives in various scenic locations around the country,  including the Wild Atlantic Way.

The musicians featured here will be familiar to many local music fans, with Colm Quearney on guitar, Graham Hopkins on drums and Rob Malone on bass.

Susie’s new album Into The Sea follows next year.

Nick says: Form an orderly Q.

Sinead O’Riordan – Flavoured Lights

We’re going to Vegas, baby!

The sense of excitement at heading off to enjoy all the fun of the fair in Sin City is palpable in newcomer Sinead’s delicious pop souffle.

Special mention to the excellent videography by Susi Piasek which will make you want to set the controls for the beating heart of the Nevada desert.

Flavoured Lights can be found on Sinead’s imminent debut 5-song EP Forbidden You.

Nick says: Heaven or Las Vegas.

According to the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland, the RTÉ 1 Prime Time discussion on trans issues featuring Graham Linehan “was treated fairly”

The first complaint, which was made by Irish Times columnist Roe McDermott, stated that the Prime Time episode was “not objective, based on the mix of contributors and how the discussion was framed”….

The second complaint argued that the programme had portrayed a clear link between transgender people and people on the autism spectrum, and was therefore unfair and offensive. …

The Compliance Committee also rejected the third complaint, in which the complainant argued that the inclusion of UK anti-transgender activists had been against the appropriate standard of due care by the broadcaster.

Paul Daly (above) and his famous Phil Lynott statue; a Philo miniature (top)

Are you a Thin Lizzy fan?

Artist Jim Fitzpatrick writes:

I know from my dealings with so many of you guys that you all have a great love for Philip and Thin Lizzy – and big, big, generous hearts.

Here’s a grievous wrong we ALL need to help put right.

Did you know that sculptor Paul Daly who made that wonderful statue of Philip outside Bruxelles in Dublin never received a single penny in royalties for all the hundreds of miniatures of his work that have been sold?

He is going thru a tough time right now and needs our help. He has the same miniatures of his Philip statue for sale at a ridiculously low price on his website right now so spread the word. Go to here.
Let’s try to help him out.

Scott Kannberg aka Spiral Stairs

Last Friday, with TWO tickets to Thursday’s gig in Whelan’s of Wexford Street, Dublin by Pavement guitarist Scott Kannberg (above) aka Spiral Stairs on offer, I asked you to name your favourite Pavement or Spiral Stairs song and why.

You answered in your low numbers (this being a niche act) and, sadly, there could be only one winner….

Winner:

Pavement – Here

Otis Blue writes:

Was thinking about Box Elder but I’m going to go with Here. Not only for the gloriously downbeat opening lines – ‘I was dressed for success but success it never comes’, but also because it references ‘mavens’ as songs so seldom do.

Also Tindersticks do a great cover version. On which point, I recommend Pavement’s cover of the Bunnymen’s The Killing Moon…

Thanks all.

NibZz – Dog With A Bone

Ready for some block rockin beats?

Then put your headphones on for NibZz (top), a Somali-born Dublin-forged rapper who is here to jazz up the neighbourhood.

The video for his debut single was directed by David Williams with cool animation by Ryan Emmett.

Nick says: Dogtastic.

The Wha – Innocents

Introducing the bright young things of the Marble City.

Kilkenny city newcomers The Wha are cut from the same stone as Arctic Monkeys and Elvis Costello.

Led by dual songwriters Finn Cusack and Sam Cullen with the line-up completed by Marek Lech on bass and Abe G Harris on drums, the group have the classic rock gang look to complement the spitfire melodic guitar riffs.

The video was directed by Conor Dockery at Dock Visual.

Nick says: Kilkenny calling.

Any fans of Pavement out there?

Filled to the brim with that Friday feeling, I’ve decided to double down on competitions today and offer TWO tickets to next Thursday’s gig in Whelan’s of Wexford Street, Dublin by Pavement guitarist Scott Kannberg aka Spiral Stairs.

A crucial member of one of the most influential American indie bands of the 1990s, Mr Stairs will be performing material from his new solo album We Wanna Be Hyp-No-Tized as well as older classics.

To be in with a chance of winning the tickets, simply tell me below what your favourite Pavement or Spiral Stairs song is and why.

Lines MUST close at 9.20pm Extended until Midnight.

The winner will be chosen by my next door neighbour’s very opinionated dog.

Nick says: Good luck.
