Behold: the entirely conceptual Bugatti Hypertruck – a vision of what could (but almost certainly won’t ever) be by designer Prathyush Devadas of Chinese auto firm Dongfeng.

The front of the eight-wheeler adopts the luxury brand’s signature ‘C-line’- with the drivers cab suspended inside. The prow, redolent of a futuristic steam-engine’s cow-catcher signifies progress and utility though, in fairness, none of this really signifies anything.

Still. Cool truck, yeah?

An international eye test chart (part of the collection of the US National Library Of Medicine) designed by German optometrist George Mayerle around 1907. To wit:

Running through the middle of the chart, the seven vertical panels test for acuity of vision with characters in the Roman alphabet (for English, German, and other European readers) and also in Japanese, Chinese, Russian, and Hebrew. A panel in the center replaces the alphabetic characters with symbols for children and adults who were illiterate or who could not read any of the other writing systems offered. Directly above the center panel is a version of the radiant dial that tests for astigmatism. On either side of that are lines that test the muscular strength of the eyes. Finally, across the bottom, boxes test for color vision, a feature intended especially (according to one advertisement) for those working on railroads and steamboats.

You can buy a limited edition print of it here.

Behold: the GFG Style 2030 – a ‘hyper SUV’ designed by former Italdesign brothers Giorgetto and Fabrizio Giugiaro – originally set to debut  at the (now cancelled) Geneva International Motor Show later this month.

A ‘showpiece’ of Saudi Arabia’s ‘Vision 2030’ project designed to expand the kingdom’s industrial presence and (ahem) reduce its future reliance on oil, the 2030 is a 4×4 all electric carbon fibre and aluminium sports car that accelerates to 100km/h in 3.5 seconds and on to a top speed of 200km/h with 370km of range on a full charge.

Behold: the Brabus 800 Adventure XLP – no ordinary G-Wagon – rather, a G63 kitted out with larger twin turbochargers (making 800bhp), a high-flow exhaust, boosted suspension and a half meter longer wheelbase to accommodate the landing pad for an onboard Wingcopter drone.

All this, and a fully customised luxury interior – yours for a mere €570,000.

Behold: the Polestar Precept – a concept electric car from Tesla-bothering Volvo subsidiary Polestar.

Low, wide, creased and planed to maximise aerodynamic efficiency, the glass-roofed Precept’s front grille contains sensors for autonomous driving and safety functions, including radar and LIDAR.

Instead of external mirrors there are slim rear facing cameras, the headlights are apparently designed to mimic the shape of Thor’s hammer Mjölnir and the interior is composed of materials woven from recycled plastics.

Due for release later this year, price tba.
