A short film by Greg Brunkalla exploring the experience of Neil Harbisson who was born with achromatopsia, a condition that renders him completely colourblind.

By way of an antenna implanted in the back of his head, Harbisson (who happily refers to himself as a ‘cyborg’) gains a comprehension of the colours around him by hearing distinct sounds.

Birds1 Craftsmanship Handwriting Jake-Weidman Preserve-the-Past

In 2011, Denver based artist and calligrapher Jake Weidmann was named  a master penman and admitted as the youngest ever member of the impressively titled International Association of Master Penmen, Engrossers and Teachers of Handwriting (IAMPETH) – a group of 14 uberskilled pencil-squeeezers.

Fair play in fairness.

His handwriting is just lovely.

An intriguing piece of eye-candy made from photographs and video footage, directed by Kevin McGloughlin of Hinterland Films in Dublin, who sez of it::

Various techniques in time-lapse photography and long exposure photography are incorporated with real time footage. The images were later digitally manipulated and stacked in a 3D environment.

 (de)hydrate – a project by Kiwi food photographer Harry Hargreaves, who boiled the water out of various soft drinks and poured the residual sugary gloop into lollipop moulds based on the size of the containers the drinks came in. Sez he:

I have heard health professionals recently refer to soda as ‘the cigarettes of our generation’. I wanted to get my head around this and show what is in a soda drink once the water has been boiled away. Essentially dehydrate the ‘hydrator.’ I decided to take the remaining substance and pour into a lollipop mold as thats what I feel you are essentially getting- a lollipop dressed up as soda….
