A Canberra couple have vowed to get a divorce, ending their “sacred” 10-year union, if Australia allows same-sex couples to legally marry. Nick Jensen and his wife Sarah believe widening the definition of marriage to include same-sex couples threatens the sacred nature of the union and leaves the door open to polygamy. The Christian couple have been happily married for over a decade, have no intention of separating and hope to have more children. For all intents and purposes they have a healthy marriage.

They seem lovely.

I think your readers might be interested in theese screen grabs of Dept of Education’s website, showing the results of searches for multi-denominational primary schools and Catholic ethos primary schools.

The visual is quite striking, and nicely illustrates the point that most families in Ireland have no choice but to attend schools controlled by the Catholic Church. In a secular state religious run schools should be the exception, not the norm….

A late night pint of water?

We don’t want your type here.

Anon writes:

A group of eight of us went into Dublin pub Doheny Nesbitt at around 12:30am last Saturday. Seven of us got a drink each and I asked for a pint of water. I was told (fairly abruptly) that they don’t give out glasses of water after midnight, and that I could pay €3 for a bottle of water instead.
The barman wasn’t making any apologies for the fact, and when my friend asked “What if she was the designated driver?”, she got told “I don’t f***ing care” by the barman. I have never experienced this before in a bar or club. I really thought that this kind of greedy Celtic Tiger bullshit had died a few years ago, but obviously not….

Harmless old school barmanship?

Or demented teetotalerphobia?

We may never know.
