Editor Alan Capriles’ cut of a chilling documentary short about the village of Hokshe, Nepal, where local residents estimate that nearly 70 people out of roughly 300 have sold their kidneys to black market organ harvesters
Lured to India by the promise of cash, villagers are tricked into thinking their kidneys will regrow “like a mango in a tree.” Years later the money is gone, and so is their means of survival.
Transport Minister Leo Varadkar tweetz:
“Considering a trial of a new road sign. Brighter agus gaeilge nios feiceali. Cad a ceapann sibh?”
The Baltimore Beacon is a white-painted stone beacon at the entrance to the harbour at Baltimore, Co Cork. It was built by orders of the British government following the 1798 Irish Rebellion.
Tim Schmelzer created a video [top] of seven animated illustrations by Harry Clarke and projected them onto the Beacon during a recent dusk.
To what end only Schmeizer really knows.
The building of the new Dublin Bikes stand in the last hour.

What you may need to know:
1. Broken Song is a new Irish documentary, directed by Claire Dix. She’s a talent, and then some.
2. Decent Irish Hip-Hop Alert: it’s a portrait of Irish rappers GI, Costello and Willa Lee.
3. It bagged the Audience Award and the Dublin Critics Circle Discovery Award at this year’s Jameson Dublin International Film Festival.
4. We’ve seen it, and its probably the best Irish movie we’ve seen in ages. Well, since Good Vibrations (2012), anyhow.
5. While you’re at it, watch Claire Dix’s brilliant short film Free Chips Forever

Three Royal Marines, known as A, B and C, have been accused of executing a captured Taliban prisoner in Helmand Province in September 2011. They are pleading not guilty to murder.
Marines B and C are accused of being “party to the killing” and “encouraged and assisted” Marine A to commit the murder.
A conversation between them, as they allegedly carried out the killing, was recorded by a camera on one of the marine’s helmets.
Judge Jeff Blackett has released an audio recording [transcript above] and video stills of the incident.
The court martial board has retired to consider its verdict.
First mention of “news aggregators” of the day. Then of “illegal aggregation” #nnijournos

So far, only two have been made but the company is currently taking orders for a full release in early 2014. Prices will start at €5,100.
