I’ve just been sent this video (I’m not connected with this in any way) and I thought you might share it on the site as a way of promoting it; lighting a candle at 9pm this evening in remembrance of those who have passed this year.

It seems like a lovely gesture coming into the darkest time of the year and a nice way to kick off Samhain. Mental health for many has taken a real kicking and I’ve no doubt that there are many who are feeling alone and bereaved this year, more than ever, and especially as we come into Winter.

Vincent and ALONE are asking members of the public to offer friendship and support to those living alone this Christmas.

ALONE is an independent charity that supports vulnerable older people to age at home and works with those who have issues with social isolation, lack of services, poor health, poverty, homelessness or housing.

The aim is to encourage people to remember older persons in their community who may be alone over Christmas, and remind them to call in for a quick visit – even to say hello.
