T-WocJetstar Vol. II E.P.

Here’s what you might need to know:

1. Producer from Wicklow releasing through Limerick’s The Unscene label, responsible for putting out some of the cream of Irish hip-hop in recent years.

2. Wonky, bassy, dubby instrumental hip-hop with a gentle tinge of psychedelia and noise. “On a bit more of a tropical tip these days”, says himself.

3. Supported Eek-A-Mouse on Irish tour, and has produced an acclaimed mix for All City Records, among other things.

4. New E.P. Jetstar Vol. II came out this week on The Unscene’s Bandcamp page, available for streaming and download in the platform’s usual ridiculous array of formats.

5. This release was preceded with the first ever press release your writer has ever received that has been written entirely in the form of dialogue.

Verdict: Dig in. Quality, quirky, dubby instrumentalness that’s well worth a lash.

LCG featuring Abi – Lullaby

Lyle Garces writes:

I am an independent artist (Stage name “LCG”) based in Dublin but originally from the Philippines. “Lullaby” is a collaboration with Singer-Songwriter Abigail Atanacio (Abi) currently attending BIMM, lending her sweet, harmonic vocals on the track. It tackles the ever-growing issues of homelessness and drug use not just in Ireland but the topic as a whole. Lullaby will also be featured on my upcoming EP titled “Everyday Heroes Pt.1” which is nearing completion…

Leigh Michael (top)

Blake Curran writes:

Leigh Michael has been releasing his own material since 2002 under many different guises, notably as Exxon Valdez, The Bastard, Mick E. Rawrk, The Gruesome Twosome & Kali.

Each project has showcased his lyrical dexterity and humour whilst also maintaining an alternative voice that examines modern social structures and challenges perceptions of the perceived norm.

His new album ‘Bruce’ is a natural progression for Leigh and represents a rebellious attitude towards the current structure of society and the state of consciousness it perpetuates

“I feel over the last couple of months we’ve been making a transition into a new type of style for us. This new single is a more mature and experimental type of track and we are looking forward to seeing how people react to it”

Linco sez:

“Looking at most original and successful artists, there comes a point when its time to make creative decisions and have the courage to try take some things in a different direction. That’s what the new project is for us.”

Boss Level Part Three

Literally a whole new level

Alan Newman writes:

Back in November 2013 we released a Music video called ‘Boss level‘ that featured eight rappers from across Ireland. It was the start of big things for Irish Hip Hop and its development.

In April 2014 we released Boss level part Two which features Irish alongside two heavyweight UK MC’s in an effort to broaden the audience of the project. This lead to a TV spot on RTE2’s Twotube, FM104’s Open Mic, plus three slots at Electric Picnic and many more

Part Three features 90’s USA Hip Hop legend & member of the super group ‘Jurassic 5‘, ‘Akil The MC’. Akil stands alongside seven other Irish Rapper’s to further push the boundaries of the Irish presence among the international Hip Hop stage.

Any feedback welcome.
