The prototype QUANT e-sportslimousine debuted at the Geneva motor show last March – a four-seat roadster with four electric motors (one per wheel) drawing power from redox flowcell technology developed by NASA in the 1970s.
912bhp, 900km range, 0-100km/h in 2.8s, 380km/h – approved this month for use on European roads, so no mere concept.

Behold BMW’s new e-bike: the Cruise (top speed 25km/h, weight 24kg, range 85km).
The bike has a 250W electric motor powered by a lithium ion battery under the bottom bracket. There’s also an onboard computer and a choice of cycling ‘modes’ including ‘eco’, ‘tour’, ‘sport’ and (ahem) ‘speed/turbo’.
No word on price or release date as yet, but the first 1000 units will be sold only in Germany.
The bike’s non-electric 2009 predecessor is currently on special offer at €700.
A new form of electric personal transport from Dutch design company Silvestris: front wheel drive, active balance control, 25kg, top speed 25km/h, 4 hour charge time, 25km range.
The Garda Segway Corps will never catch you.

Australian-made Stealth Electric Bikes – available in a range of styles (with names like ‘Hurricane’ and ‘Street Fighter’) – have a 50 mile (80km) range on a two-hour charge and a maximum speed of 50mph (80kph).
The ‘Bomber’ (above) is on sale in the UK for (ouch) £8,325.
Still.

The Faraday Porteur Bike, despite its retro butcher’s bike looks, has a cache of lithium ion batteries packed inside the frame, integrated front and rear LED lights controlled by an ambient light sensor, a subtly placed on/off switch and an e-ink battery meter.
The front carrier can hold 14kg and the bike itself weighs about 20kg, which won’t bother its rider in the least. Pedal and the electric motor matches your leg power automatically. There’s also a ‘boost’ button for extra welly.
Currently most of the way toward Kickstarter funding for a first production run, the bikes are available for $3500.
Or $10,000 for a bespoke, handmade ‘collectors edition’.

A clean, eerily quiet new era dawns.
