Irish police are investigating how a human leg was found at a waste recycling plant [Thorntons Recycling plant] in [Ballyfermot] Dublin on Thursday night.

Detectives are exploring two main theories about how the limb ended up at the recycling site. One possibility is that the limb belonged to a homeless person sleeping in a bin somewhere in the Irish capital.

The second theory the Garda will investigate is that the leg could be from the body of a murder victim. Dublin’s crime gangs have abducted, killed and hidden the remains of those they have killed in disputes over drugs, territory and weapons.

The Dart

Erin Fornoff writes:

On Thursday I left my (red, beat up-looking) wallet on the Dart. It had a good bit of money it (unusually), my house key, and pretty much everything I need to survive including Irish ID, etc. Yesterday someone turned it in to the station with all the cash in it and everything else. He left his name as “John Joe” and put down a random fake number. I am assuming it was the Olympic Champion boxer. Even if it isn’t the Olympic champion boxer, I am dying to thank the hell out of whoever brought it back! THANK YOU JOHN JOE. YOU ARE THE GREATEST MAN ALIVE.

Anyone?

Disc

I’m looking to see if anyone knows a Philly McManus from Roscrea, Co. Tipperary, owner of a Peugeot 08D. I’ve found her tax disc documents outside on Stephens Green South this morning. I can post them back to her, but if she is in the area, she may want to collect.

Anyone?

UPDATE: Philly has emailed.

A good Samaritan contacted us earlier, having found these two envelopes adrift in the bicycle lane on Clanwilliam Place, Dublin 2 at around 3.20 this afternoon.

Both envelopes contain items of value. The front of the envelopes are not blank.

Anyone?

UPDATE: The owner has been found and the envelopes retrieved. For those interested, one contained a few hundred quid in cash, the other a cheque. Now for yeh.

I know you ‘don’t normally do this’, but you’d really be helping me out. Out walking my dog this morning and a little white dog (red collar, no tags or road sense), above, followed me home.
I am based in Dun Laoghaire and he followed me from Crosthwaite Park at about 7am. I don’t really know what to do – have called local vets and gardai, and will check if he’s microchipped later on (had to come into work). If you could post this, I’d really appreciate it.

UPDATE: Owner located. More as we get it. Thanks all.
