“You need to relax, you need to relax a bit now…Deputy Healy Rae, Deputy Healy Rae, through the chair, all I remember, I was reliably informed that, through the chair, Deputy Healy Rae approached people outside of Mass, to say ‘I can get you on the bus if you want a cataract’.”

“You should take that back, you’re a disgrace. You’re only the bottom of the barrel now coming out with that sort of a statement. And cop on a small bit Taoiseach.”
Independent Kerry TD Michael Healy Rae in response.
The Taoiseach tangles with Independent TDs Michael Healy Rae and Michael Collins, who had just revealed that he and Deputy Danny Healy-Rae have organised 2000 people (with some into their 90s) from all over Cork and Kerry to go to Belfast (over the past two years) to get cataract treatment.

Taoiseach Micheál Martin has said the National Public Health Emergency Team (NPHET) ‘may advise’ Government on localised restrictions in cities such as Cork, Waterford, Limerick and Galway, where the number of coronavirus cases continues to rise.
Via RTÉ:
Speaking this afternoon in Cork, Micheál Martin said NPHET is “very concerned” about the spread of the virus in these cities.
He said he had been told by the Acting Chief Medical Officer Dr Ronan Glynn that the number of cases in Cork was “rising in a straight line“.
He said he was flagging with people now that these cities are danger areas, and steps need to be taken to control the spread of the virus there.
Mr Martin said curbing the spread of the virus remained in people’s own hands….

Details of the government’s ‘medium term Covid-19 plan’ is due to be published tomorrow,
It will set out ‘five levels of the virus’ and related restrictions that will apply across the country for the next six to nine months.
Via RTÉ
It is understood it is possible that Dublin could be placed on a higher level of the plan due to the prevalence of the disease in the capital.
It is expected that the Government will adopt the National Public Health Emergency Team’s recommendation further limiting visitors to homes in the capital.
That would mean only allowing six people from two households rather than three.
Tomorrow’s plan is also set to provide for a return of spectators to matches, with 500 allowed at club level and 5,000 for a large stadium like Croke Park….
Meanwhile…
…Gardaí are increasing high visibility patrols in Dublin as part of the efforts to reduce the spread of Covid-19.
Over the last week, 57% of the new coronavirus cases in the country occurred in Dublin.
To support the public health guidelines and regulations, Deputy Garda Commissioner for Policing and Security John Twomey, said gardaí will be carrying out increased high visibility patrols – across the city and county – with a focus on social distancing, gatherings in large groups and compliance with the use of face coverings.
