On February 23rd, 2018, Broadsheet published a story containing serious allegations against the award-winning journalist and author Olaf Tyaransen.

We also provided a direct link to an article on the US website Medium, which was the source of these allegations. Medium removed the story shortly thereafter.

We did not intend to malign the reputation and good name of Mr Tyaransen and sincerely apologise for the stress, hurt and embarrassment caused to him and his family.

Ian Bailey, is to make an exclusive appearance with a public interview with at the Hot Press Chatroom at Electric Picnic.

Bailey was arrested twice in relation to the 1996 murder of French film producer Sophie Toscan du Plantier, however he has never been charged and has always strongly protested his innocence.

Appearing at the Hot Press Chatroom at 2pm on Saturday, September 2 Bailey will be interviewed by Hot Press journalist Olaf Tyaransen, in a conversation that will offer an absolutely fascinating insight into one of the most debated cases in modern Irish history.

Earlier this year, Tyaransen carried out a comprehensive interview with Bailey in Hot Press, which laid bare the toll the case has taken on his life. You can read the article in full at the link below.

Backstage [at the Metropolis Festival at the RDS, Ballsbridge, Dublin 4] I spot Drugs Minister Aodhán Ó Ríordáin and invite him to come over and say hello.

The last time Howard met an Irish minister was on The Late Late Show in 1997 (I was also present). Mary Harney wasn’t impressed, telling Gay Byrne that she considered him to be “Mr Evil.”

Ó Ríordáin is far more pleasant and open-minded, later tweeting a picture of us all together along with the comment that it was “Great chatting.” What a difference 18 years can make…
