Clinch_Homepage

Clinch is a new Irish recruitment jobs site.

Damien Glancy, their CTO says:

Born from the notion that “hiring shouldn’t suck,” Clinch offers a hiring experience that is more engaging, more honest, and basically more human – for both jobseeker and employer alike. Our in-house photographers and copywriters work alongside companies to create a profile on Clinch that provides unique insight into their workplace and culture. For the job seekers themselves,
Clinch provides a sort of “window on the workplace,” allowing them to get a real feel for the company and the people who work there. The more informed people are, the better choices they can make when it comes to submitting job applications.

Their robots.txt though shows their true feelings stripped of the marketing:

The Royal Navy’s most advanced frigate, HMS Portland, sailed into Belfast on Thursday to launch a major jobs and recruitment fair for the armed forces. The ship will be in the harbour until Monday, September 30 and during the five-day visit, it will play host to the public highlighting the diverse range of job opportunities a career in the armed forces can offer.

Recruitment agencies? Greedy and exploitative? Surely not.

Pat Byrne (above), chief executive of aviation software specialist Rainmaker and chairman of airline Cityjet, says recruitment agencies have become too dominant and are charging employers exorbitant and unsustainable commissions.

He says agencies seek up to 28 per cent of the salary of anyone hired by a client company. In the case of software engineers and other similarly qualified staff, this could come to between €14,000 and €19,000.

Oh.

RISING unemployment in Europe has driven an influx of Irish and British skilled migrants to labour-strapped pockets of the Australian economy in recent months, government figures show.

But skilled migration from Greece, where unemployment topped 20 per cent in November, remains low as Australian recruiters target already strong labour streams from the British Isles.

The Perth offices of one of the largest global recruiters has noted a surge in Irish and British citizens on temporary visas seeking employer sponsorship. The company’s counterparts on the east coast have reported only a small rise.

”Unfortunately for Victoria we do not have the luxury of mines, we don’t have a resources boom,” said Hays Victoria senior regional director Tim James.’

Helped by campaigns to attract Irish and UK workers, the Hays Perth reception desk felt as if it had ”half of Dublin in it on a Friday afternoon”, said WA senior regional director Simon Winfield.
