Last night.

On RTÉ One’s Big Week on the Farm, which continues every night this week at 7pm.

Eight-time All-Ireland Sheep Shearing Champion Ivan Scott, from Kilmacrennan near Letterkenny, Co. Donegal, sheared a sheep in 37.9 seconds – a new world record.

Fair play, in fairness.

Big Week On The Farm.

Gareth Naughton writes:

On Big Week On The Farm we ask the children of St Laurence O’Toole primary school in Dublin what kind of animals you would find on a farm – with some very interesting answers!

Also on tonight’s show, presenters Áine Lawlor and Ella McSweeney are joined by guest co-presenter Mairead Farrell as they introduce viewers to the host farm for the week’s events – John Fagan’s lot on the beautiful shores of Lough Derravaragh in Co Westmeath.

We’ll get an insight into the secret life of the cow, live link to a pig farm in Kerry and a fish farm in Donegal, hear a hair-raising tale about cows from weather woman Evelyn Cusack and Mairead will turn her hand to some milking. And we’ll also be checking in with John Fagan as he finds himself in the middle of delivering 120 lambs over the course of the week.

Inside The GPO.

Gareth Naughton writes:

Regina Philip, originally from Tanzania, was granted asylum in Ireland but her daughter only made it as far as Paris. She is now 14-years-old and has been living in a hostel in the care of the French authorities for the last eight years.

When viewers meet Regina, she is sending a parcel of clothing to her daughter. She tells them: “I miss her a lot. I wish we can be together always. Circumstance doesn’t allow”.

Regina came to Ireland by way of Kenya and South Africa. She was lucky enough to find asylum but her daughter, who was just six-years-old when she arrived in Paris, is unable to join her here.

“She came to France when she was young, now she is 14. She has been there eight years with no family, with nobody. It is hard and it is sad. I am working out if I can go there or she can come here,” Regina tells viewers.

Inside the GPO goes behind the scenes at one of the country’s most iconic buildings. Best known as the headquarters of the 1916 Rising, the GPO has been at the heart of Irish life for 200 years. This series goes behind the scenes at Ireland’s busiest post office; home to 950 staff, a microcosm of Irish society, and caretaker of letters, parcels, hopes and stories

Raidió Teilifís Éireann has agreed a ‘sub-licence agreement’ with loathed rivals TV3 for broadcasting of this Summer’s football European Championship.

RTÉ will keep the good stuff (all of Ireland’s games) naturally.

Group head of RTÉ Sport Ryle Nuggent said:

RTÉ is delighted to partner with TV3, another Irish broadcaster, to ensure that the UEFA Euro 2016 Finals are delivered to Irish audiences free-to-air…

Broke so.

The third and final episode of 1916, narrated by Liam Neeson.

On RTÉ One at 9.35pm tonight.

Gareth Naughton writes:

“The clip, above, features footage of Margaret Morrissey, a Dublin resident, talking about seeing her father being buried in a mass grave at Glasnevin following the Easter Rising. The final episode of 1916 deals with the surrender and subsequent executions of the leaders and the fundamental changes arising from these events.”
