The Strypes

This morning.

Joe Clarke writes:

After 2 Top 20 UK albums (including a No. 1 album in Ireland) 3 sold out Japanese Tours and killer headline shows everywhere, The Strypes are announcing the break up of the band effective immediately.

Cavan’s Pete O’Hanlon on bass, Evan Walsh on drums, Josh McClorey on guitar and Ross Farelly on vocals exploded into the world in 2010 with an appearance on the Late Late Toy Show but it was their 2012 debut Ep ‘Young Gifted and Blue’ on Reckless Records that was the key to their huge international success.

…In the short term Pete and Ev have signed up with J&L Associates, an acting agency in London, Josh is working on a solo album and Ross is pursuing other musical outlets.

So we recently got to interview The Strypes in the new shiny Digital Bunker studio out on RTÉ for 2XM. They talk about Coppers, Fireman Sam, their new album and many more worthy topics….

For your consideration.

Julien Temple‘s excellent  2015 BBC4 documentary ‘The Best Thing Since Cavan’ on The Strypes and their ongoing mission to bring R&B and rock ‘n’ roll to a new generation.

Includes eye-popping Cavan archive footage, Keith Allen, Monaghan’s much-missed Flatlake Festival and Elton John.

Laura writes:

I recently got to meet The Strypes at their gig at 5th on Teeling in Sligo [for Needs More Cowbell on RTE 2XM] I talked to them about their music but more importantly about stuff like Cavan accents, leather trousers and what they’d like to do in 2015…

The Strypes – Hard To Say No

Jenny writes:

Another Strypes video for their new single shot in the Town Hall in Cavan over Christmas where the lads played three gigs. Makes the Town Hall look shit cool in my opinion…. it’s mostly just used for Bingo.
