Truck drivers taking part in a protest in Dublin this morning are blocking both ends of the Tom Clarke Bridge, commonly known as the East Link.

Via RTE News:

Promenade Road at the Port Tunnel is also blocked, as is the roundabout at the 3Arena and the entrance to Dublin Port.

Gardaí are advising commuters to plan for potential traffic disruption due to the protest, but the main roads leading into the city seem to be moving well, with most of the disruption currently around the docklands area.

The protest is being organised by a group which calls itself ‘The People of Ireland Against Fuel Prices’.

A poll says that, should a meaningful number of truckers show up near Washington, D.C. in the coming days to protest two years of COVID restrictions, they will have the support of the majority of Republicans and independents in the country.

The poll, conducted by Trafalgar Group, indicates that 50.3 percent of adult Americans are “very likely” or “somewhat likely” to support the U.S. demonstration of truckers, a few of whom departed last week from various parts of the country for an expected 11-day trek to the nation’s capital.

The busiest land crossing from the United States to Canada remained shut after Canadian truckers blocked lanes on Monday to protest their government’s pandemic control measures.

While traffic in both directions was initially blocked, U.S.-bound lanes have since reopened, Windsor Police tweeted. Canadian police also said late on Tuesday another border crossing at Coutts, Alberta, had been shut down by protesters for inbound and outbound traffic.

From the western province of Alberta, moving east to Quebec City, and in cities and towns in between, thousands of Canadians have hit the streets in trucks, tractors, cars and on foot to protest the nation’s Covid-19 restrictions.

With persistent and noisy horn honking, protesters are demanding governments at all levels lift their health restrictions, including vaccine and mask mandates, lockdowns and restrictions on businesses and gatherings.

“The whole event has gone beyond just vaccines and it is now about the entire ordeal,” protester James MacDonald told CNN, adding he’s been in Ottawa since last weekend and has no intention of leaving until health measures are dropped.
