“This might interest you for the weekend that’s in it. For a time back in the 1990s I was one of the producers of St. Patrick’s Festival. Best job ever.
In 1998, I had the opportunity to invite the guys who dye the Chicago river to come to Dublin and do the same to the Liffey.
Here are some pics of the event. Not sure I’d get away with it now.
The boat team scattered orange powdered dye into the water, which turned green on contact with the powder. This was around the time of the Good Friday Agreement and the Orange/Green transformation was much commented on.
Two friendly jet skiers acted as mobile mixers and spread the green colour between Grattan & Matt Talbot bridges.”

Blindfolded theatre, you say?

The Gospel according to Matthew J Anthony, Smock Alley Theatre, Dublin

“An evening where the shackles of preconception can be swapped for the immersion of darkness. The performance won’t happen in the dark but you won’t be able to see. If you’re there, you’ll be blindfolded. Why? Why not…? Imagine the possibilities; give your eyes a break, give your ears a gallop.”

March 31.

But first listen to  Matthew here.

Good, isn’t he?

Thanks Buzz

“I, too, was ordained a Catholic priest. I am now married and actively involved in my local parish as well as in various Catholic reform groups. I, too, am deeply troubled as a result of all the abuse of power, children, women and priests which has happened on our watch in Catholic parishes and homes. I am worried about the official omerta code and ongoing denial. I am ashamed of the mealy-mouthed apologies and no evidence of genuine repentance or purpose of amendment.”

“However, I remain a believer in the fundamental Good News of Jesus and am heartened by the large numbers of good Catholic people of faith, action for justice and loving service. Like many other Catholic people clinging on by their fingernails, I am more than willing to volunteer service in our parishes and local communities. But I am frightened of being compromised into collusion or support for ongoing abuse, inquisition and medieval nonsense. I do not want people to be diverted by the pomp and pageantry of an unreformed Vatican.”
