VERY ANNOYED, we put up this mannequin: in support of our fabulous Meath Ladies & our 2 local heroes. This morning it has been removed from Athboy/Navan Road. Who ever took it please bring it back it does not belong to you. It was secured to the fence, so it had to be cut to be removed.

Any excuse.

Who’s the ilegitimo in the yellow?

Slovenian referee Matej Jug, who officiated last night’s match between Portugal and the Republic of Ireland, has come under scrutiny for his lenient approach to Christian Ronaldo’s misdemeanours during the game, which included slapping Irish defender Dara O’Shea (top) like he was his cadela.

“What we had is agreement on a 50% capacity, so about 40,000 people be they vaccinated or unvaccinated. Sixty thousand people fully vaccinated in my view is probably a lower risk than 40,000 people.

“Remember 90% of the adult population is already vaccinated. So if you had an adult population in Croke Park regardless the vast, vast majority in there are fully vaccinated anyway.

“I was talking to Minister Jack Chambers about it and they spend a lot of time working with the sports organisations on whether or not the events themselves are causing outbreaks.

“Interestingly the events are very well run and there isn’t a lot of data suggesting there are super spreader events from the stadiums.

“When you talk to the local testing teams what they find is back in the counties [involved] they begin to see outbreaks because people are going to watch the match in pubs or in people’s houses.”

Via Irish Examiner:

“A number of players have had vaccines,” Kenny said in Dublin on Thursday afternoon. “Some haven’t, some have had one. In England the AstraZeneca has a long period between the first and second doses. Some players have been caught after the first one and some players decided not to get it.”

“We’d want everyone vaccinated, but players are men as individuals. They have the right to make their own decisions and you have to respect that. In an ideal world we’d prefer to have everyone vaccinated but we have to respect the individual wishes.”
