I know you don’t normally do this, but I was wondering could you share our event as some of your readers might be interested?

We’re running a FREE event @MVP [29 Upper Clanbrassil Street, Dublin 8] tonight at 7pm (CreateSound Social) to support local producers and hopefully help boost some more home-grown electronic music.

For this one we’re delight to have Bell X1’s Glenn Keating giving some demo/tips along with other performances and DJ’ing local Irish electronic.

All welcome, from bedroom producers, to people just interested in having a gander. Chat, collaborate, have a mooch…

Anyone looking to play or get feedback on their own tracks can bring them along on a USB key and we’ll shtick them on…

Ryanair AGM, Dublin

Asked about the pilots’ rejection of the company’s bonus scheme to encourage them to give up annual leave to address staff shortages, he said the Ryanair may have to take back one week of the pilots’ four week block of leave.

He said Ryanair was entitled to do this under their contracts.

Mr O’Leary said that much of the discontent was fuelled by unions among Ryanair’s competitors, and he pledged that the current difficulties would not lead to unionisation at the carrier.

Meanwhile, 33 Ryanair bases have now rejected the airline’s bonus scheme with further details from other bases expected later.

RTÉ News has seen documents which raise the possibility of a work-to-rule by pilots, which would significantly worsen the current disruption to flights at the airline.

O’Leary plans pilots’ holiday switch to solve cancellations “mess” (RTÉ)

But he [O’Leary] appeared unwilling to give any ground in his stand-off with pilots, instead threatening to cancel their time off and questioning the extent of their talents.

He said any that were due to take a four-week break in the next few months could be forced under the terms of their contract to delay one of those weeks until January.

He added: “Once you are trained and skilled at doing it … I would challenge any pilot to explain how this is a difficult job or how it is they are overworked or how anybody who by law can’t fly more than 18 hours a week could possibly be suffering from fatigue.”

The Symbioz – Renault’s vision of an autonomous electric vehicle for the 2030s. Envisaged as part-car part ‘living room’, the Symbioz parks inside the home, offering backup power in the event of a outage as well as an extension to the living space, rising on a hydraulic platform to the roof terrace where occupants can enjoy a spectacular vista of Renault’s brave new world.

It’s mad altogether.

Irish Lesbian Mom.

Too controversial for Twitter and Facebook.

Birdie writes:

I’d appreciate if the Broadsheet readers could help me with my problem. Twitter won’t let me advertise with them because they deem that my account violates their “Adult or Sexual Products and Services policy”.

I don’t think it does but maybe your readers agree with Twitter?

My twitter handle is @IrishLesbianMom. I contacted Twitter to let them know that I am not selling sexual products or services, I am writing a humorous pregnancy blog.

They told me that they would forward it to their policy people. It took them 5 days to respond even though they claim they will get back to you in 48 hours.

I emailed them twice, no joy. I spoke to them on chat twice and was told each time that they would email me. Ironically I tweeted their support but they never tweeted back.

Eventually they did email me today and stated:

“We’ve reviewed and confirmed the ineligibility decision for Twitter Ads based on our Adult or Sexual Products and Services policy. Violating content includes, but is not limited to, nudity, partial nudity, sexual aids and toys, as well as adult/sexual language, video and images. If the violating content has been removed, please respond and we will re-review for policy compliance.”

Interestingly, Facebook would not allow me to use IrishLesbianMom as a URL as they too found it too sexually suggestive. I changed lesbian to lezzer and viola, Facebook has stopped blushing.

Do your readers think that Twitter & Facebook are sexualising the word lesbian? Or am I missing something?

Perhaps my very crappy illustration of a pregnant body (top) is giving too many people the horn? I’m at a loss.

Anyone?

Live from the Ploughing Championship today on RTÉ radio and telly

Of RTÉ’s wall to wall ploughing coverage…

I know the National Ploughing Championship is a big deal but this is not the Second Coming for pity’s sake…

Every show. Every fupping show?

Can anyone recall ten years ago if the national broadcaster even bothered to send a second camera unit to the championships?

This is shameless bogger exploitation by a station fighting for its life.

Via Aer Lingus:

As a nation of keen travellers there is nothing more disappointing than having your holiday plans cancelled at the eleventh hour.

Over the last few days Aer Lingus has seen record demand for its holiday rescue fares and has today announced an extension of its ‘Happy Winter’ sale with seats to Europe up for grabs this October from as a little as €29.99.

From 01 October – 28 February 2018, Aer Lingus, Ireland’s most punctual airline in and out of Dublin, will operate 100% of its flights to top European destinations.

So nyeh.
