Behold: the 1975 Porsche 911 Coupe, but not just any old 1975 Porsche 911 Coupe.

This ‘tribute’ vehicle, which started life as a 911S has been extensively modified by Patrick Motorsports, fitted with RSR-style steel fenders and older “long hood”, along with 934/935-style mirrors, round taillights and a one-off custom paintjob. A 964-era 3.6-litre flat-six has been bored out  to 3.8 litres and fitted with twin turbochargers, delivering over 550bhp.

Price on application.

How does the weather on the Sun affect the weather here? If a bid to find out, NASA and the European Space Agency launched the Solar Orbiter, naturally, last Sunday. To wit:

This Sun-circling robotic spaceship will monitor the Sun’s changing light, solar wind, and magnetic field not only from the usual perspective of Earth but also from above and below the Sun. Pictured, a long duration exposure of the launch of the Solar Orbiter shows the graceful arc of the bright engines of United Launch Alliance‘s Atlas V rocket as they lifted the satellite off the Earth. Over the next few years, the Solar Orbiter will use the gravity of Earth and Venus to veer out of the plane of the planets and closer to the Sun than Mercury. Violent weather on the Sun, including solar flares and coronal mass ejections, has shown the ability to interfere with power grids on the Earth and communications satellites in Earth orbit. The Solar Orbiter is expected to coordinate observations with the also Sun-orbiting Parker Solar Probe launched in 2018.

Behold: the BMW K1100S – a heavily modified R1100S created by Milan-based Officine Mermaid and Radikal Chopper which recently won the coveted ‘Best In Show’ award at the 2020 Motorbike Expo in Verona.

Not much remains of the donor bike beyond the powertrain and swing arm. The rest is an intricate, alloy-clad work of hog art with a custom two piece chassis, one-off fender, headlight, Discacciati brakes, clip-ons, levers, top triple and ornate fluid reservoirs

You can’t have it. It’s just for looking at.

Behold: the 1958 Ferrari 250GT LWB California Spider – the long wheel base version of the replica featured in’ Ferris Bueller’s Day Off’.

Right now, both are up for auction.

Between 1957 and 1963, only 107 were made and this V12 was the seventh to leave the factory. Sold new in Geneva, it has passed though the hands of a Swiss and a Japanese owner before ending up in California where it was restored, bestowed with Ferrari Classiche certification and presented for sale: yours for (probably) considerably less than the SWB fake from the movie.
