Mulhuddart.
A neglected beauty.
MLG writes:
I’m very keen to get together a group of local volunteers in Mulhuddart who would be willing to tackle some of the litter black-spots in the area. I’m a keen walker, and although we have wonderful facilities and resources around Mulhuddart, it is disheartening to see them marred by regular dumping.
I am aware that Fingal County Council have an ‘adopt a patch’ scheme, and can provide litter picking equipment and will collect bags of rubbish. It would be great to get a group of volunteers together now and again to try and clean the place up, especially now that the evenings are getting longer.
Any assistance you could help me on getting the word out to potential volunteers would be great. Volunteers to mulhuddartlittergroup@gmail.com

The North Lotts and Grand Canal Dock Strategic Development Zone
The controversial Chocolate Park.
Gets the golden ticket.
Via Dublin City Council
Dublin City Council is pleased to announce that planning permission has been granted for the first planning application under the North Lotts and Grand Canal Dock Strategic Development Zone (SDZ). Planning permission was granted for a development by Targeted Investment Opportunities Plc. at No. 76 Sir John Rogerson’s Quay, Dublin 2, for a mixed use scheme.
The development also provides for the new ”Chocolate Park” [based on Roald Dahl’s classic on a site is in the middle of the peninsula between Hanover Quay and Sir John Rogerson’s Quay] public open space.
This decision marks the first major planning application to be granted by Dublin City Council as the Development Agency for Dublin Docklands. Three other significant applications for development in Docklands have also been made to the City Council including the mixed use development at Boland’s Mills….

Forty seven per cent in one year.
Not including unreported thefts.
Green Party [Dublin City] Councillor Claire Byrne sez:
“This unprecedented rise in bike theft is deeply concerning to anyone who owns a bicycle and to those who want to see an increase in cycling in the city. Research has shown that people are far less likely to invest in a new bike and continue cycling after a theft, so it’s something we need to tackle urgently. 47% is a huge jump by anyone’s standard. No one would accept car crime to such an extent..
“One way to improve this is to create more safe and secure bike parking facilities in the city. I would like to see Dublin City Council recreate the success of the Drury Street Car Park bike parking facility and open new monitored and secure locations, or to roll out more on-street bike lockers that are currently being trialled by Dublin City Beta Projects….”
