Belfast audience reaction to Death of A Comedian (above).

Roisin O’Sullivan writes:

Death of a Comedian [starring Brian Doherty, top] written by Owen McCafferty is in it’s final week at the Abbey Theatre, Dublin before travelling on to the Soho Theatre in London.
It’s a theatre piece about a comedian named Steve who has just started to experience success as a stand up, brought to him by his new big time agent. However, he has to make some tough decisions about what he’s prepared to compromise on!

We’d like to offer 4 tickets (yes FOUR tickets) to the show to Broadsheet reader/s. There’s quite a lot of bad language (The C-bomb is a particular favourite!) so we just like to warn people in advance. In that spirit, for a chance to win the tix please complete this sentence:

‘The most tasteless joke I’ve ever told was the one about the_________________________’

Followed one of those silly “Suggested Stories” links on FB and found this [a story on Boredom Therapy last month exploring the interesting phenomenon of offline file-sharing communities that secrete ‘dead drop’ USB drives in public places around the world. The first five were installed in Brooklyn by artist Adam Bartholl in 2010.]

Decent enough story):

Was curious to see what locations existed in Ireland, found this (below).

Activated and broken on the same day… this is why we don’t get nice things.

Behold the crafty seed of the Stork’s Bill or Erodium plant which falls to the ground and uses the power of humidity and a thorny appendage (which turns clockwise when wet and counter-clockwise when dry) to drill itself into the soil like a screw.

My [3-year-old] daughter Johanna singing Paul Weller [ ‘Uh Huh Oh Yeah]’ was shared to the Paul Weller news page by my sister. It received over 55,000 views in three days. Paul Weller’s wife Hannah tweeted to say “She’s Definitely Paul’s coolest littleist fan!! I wouldn’t normally be a stage mother but the reaction has been really lovely…

How the Irish Water charge bill will look.

And the very best of luck with that.

Meanwhile…

Irish Water has confirmed that it plans to send out water bills to more than 1.7 million households in the full knowledge that hundreds of thousands of those bills will be incorrect.
The company said it has to operate on the basis of incomplete information and that households will receive the bills over an eight-week period starting in the first week of April.
More than 700,000 households who are not registered will receive a bill.
