Orlagh Bailey writes:

Executive Director of ‘Belong To’ David Carroll and Ali Curshaw were in studio to encourage young people to Stand Up against LGBT bullying. They talk about recent successes in the campaign, and the projects they run around the country.

You may blub.

David Maybury writes:

The team at Brown Bag Films have been busy working late, covering weekends and ignoring lunch breaks to complete a short film to raise awareness about the Irish charity, To Russia with Love. The film will be released online in May with a call to share/donate/talk about the charity. We’ve just released the trailer – the first look at the movie and would appreciate any/all help in sharing it far and wide…

Fair play though, in fairness.

You may know Dublin-based ‘news trading floor’ Newswhip.

They provide free of charge the excellent widget to your right tracking the most popular stories  on social media..

Newswhip launch their NEW site today which is responsive so – FINALLY – people with smartphones don’t have to squint any more to see the most shared stories.

Founder Paul Quigley writes:

To mark the occasion and moved by BS posting de papers [every night]. We decided to see what they would look like if we replaced the front page with the stories from each paper that people were sharing and talking about most on social media. Some photoshopping later and: Viola – the People Powered front pages from Wednesday’s papers, stacked next to their original equivalents…

This could get ugly.

The Freedom of the City of Dublin.

Few (ladies) are chosen.

Henry & Clover write:

“If my cursory glance of the list [of 76 those awarded the Freedom of the City of Dublin] doesn’t overlook anyone, that’s 71 men (including all four members of U2) and five women. There’s Michiko, empress-consort of Japan. There’s Anjezë Gonxhe Bojaxhiu, Blessed Teresa of Calcutta,.. There’s Aung San Suu Kyi,. There’s Margaret Sandhurst, English suffragist. And, finally, there’s Maureen Potter, actor and comedian, who, of the seventy-six recipients of the Freedom of the City of Dublin, is the only Irish woman.

The Lord Mayor nominated and City Council approved a further two awards for 2014: Brian O’Driscoll and Father Peter McVerry…”

Artists Ward Shelley and Alex Schweder are currently living in a 7.6m tall rotating wheel at The Boiler in Brooklyn, NY as apart of an installation called In Orbit.

The giant wheel features furniture and other facilities on the inside and outside circumferences which the artists ‘living’ on either side must cooperate in order to use.

We are, all of us, mere hamsters on life’s great wheel.
