‘A Quiet Day in Belfast‘ – a 1974 made for TV movie, starring Emmet ‘Dick Moran‘ Bergin and Margot ‘Lois Lane‘ Kidder.
Filmed entirely in Dublin, it depicts the story of Jack, a British soldier and Brigid, a young Belfast Catholic who fall in love.
It’s like Leap Year (2010) with some political violence thrown in.

Belfast Zoo are celebrating the arrival of the first Western lowland gorilla to be born at the zoo in 16 years.

Racist graffiti was daubed on the walls and a double-glazed window and door pane were also broken at the house on Wayland Street, off the Castlereagh Road at around 1am on Monday.
The 27-year-old man renting the house has been living in Belfast for eight years.
The Nigerian national had only been in the property for a few days before the incident happened.

A man has been jailed for nine months for stealing a tortoise and a homeless man’s mobile phone. David Weir took the tortoise from a Belfast pet store and sold it for £60 to feed his alcohol addiction, Belfast Magistrates’ Court heard. The tortoise, valued at £250, was stolen in August last year.
A defence lawyer told the court it was fit and well the last time Weir saw it. However, it was accepted that the defendant did not know where it was now. Judge Perry said that it could not have got very far.
