Scenes by Donal Moloney from this Summer’s Calcio Storica.
A combination of football, rugby and wrestling.
Donal Moloney writes:
It’s possibly the most dangerous sport of Earth. Back in June I crossed another one off the bucket list and had the privilege of attending Calcio Storico in Florence.
Months of planning and a hard neck had me attend the event as the only non-Italian photographer for both semi-finals. Lots of stress getting the pass but worth it. Great craic…

Pine The Pilcrow – Only Ghosts
Video directed by Donal Moloney, who writes:
A couple of months ago I was asked to do a talk in the Tara Buildings on as part of their excellent ‘Creative Mornings’ monthly program.
Prior to my talk the audience were treated to a few songs performed by a newish Irish group called ‘Pine The Pilcrow’. I had never heard of them before but they blew me away with their melancholic and haunting tones.
Their sound seemed a perfect fit for a video idea I had. Their new single ‘Only Ghosts’ (released today) was particularly suited to my notion. I approached them after the talk and they were more than keen to collaborate. I did some prep work and shot this (above) a couple of weeks ago with the assistance of some great friends. If you ever get the chance, check them out.
