This year’s DIT 2014 Graduate Photography Exhibition officially opens tonight and runs until June 15th in the Gallery of Photography and National Photographic Archive in Meeting House Square, Temple Bar, Dublin. It’s a collection of new work by visual artists from arguably the most respected photography course in Ireland (I would say that, being a graduate), and there will probably be some free wine too.

I’m a student at the Cork Centre for Architectural Education. We have our end of year exhibition of student work coming up and we were wondering if we could get a mention on the blog.

To wit:

An event held annually to exhibit the works of UCC/CITs joint architecture course at Cork Centre for Architectural Education. From first to masters year each display represents the ethos and explorations of every student through photography, model making, computer graphics, woordwork, metalwork and hand drawn pieces. The exhibition aims to create a public plaform to involve the community in the works of the students.

Dee Reddy writes:

“Marriage Equality’s vision is of an Ireland in which same sex couples, our families and our children enjoy equality. The contributing artists, the event sponsors and No Fixed Abode share this vision and hope that through this exhibition we can raise funds for Marriage Equality to continue their amazing work ahead of the referendum on same-sex marriage in 2015.”

Any excuse.

Irish Refugee Council writes:

This exhibition marks one year since the national day of action last year which called for an end to the institutional accommodation of people seeking international protection in Ireland…The main focus and aim of the exhibition is to raise awareness about the human cost of the current system, in particular the impact on children who are growing up within it.

This Friday sees the start of an Illustrators Ireland exhibition in the Copper House Gallery in Dublin. The Art of Superstition show brings together a number of Ireland’s finest Illustrators for what promises to be an amazing show. The show, featuring people such as Steve Simpson, PJ Lynch and the Laureate na nÓg Niamh Sharkey, will be examining the world of irrational beliefs and superstitions as we come up to Halloween.

invite001stencilVS002VS006Dublin based stencil artist KEMP is having an exhibition in Vicar St. tonight prior to the Breeders gig from 6-8pm.

No invite required and you don’t need to be going to the gig to gain entry.

KEMP synopsises the night thus:

Chances of hipster presence- nailed on

Chances of tay – slim but wouldn’t totally rule it out

Chances of a bike being stolen- worth a punt

Chances of art featuring lost or cute pets, weather or things that look like Ireland- unfortunately nil.
