A regularly updated twitter feed chronicling an alternative and surreal, if possibly more rational, universe for hapless Paul Brennan, of RTÉ One’s Fair City, played by Tony Tormey.

Brennan’s Armageddon

Um.

Last night.

Fair City on RTÉ One.

SOQ writes:

Accidentally watched Fair City last night- they are actually wearing muzzles on it. No doubt the justification is that they are setting a ‘good’ example but they just looked really silly. No sign of them on the English soaps of course.

Do we really need a reminder of how bleak and miserable things are on a soap which is supposed to be about escapism?

On the other hand it did appear to improve some of the acting – so maybe they should all wear them all of the time.

This afternoon.

Further to actress Gal Gadot organising celebrity pals to sing John Lennon’s Imagine, cast members of RTÉ soap Fair City sing Mark McCabe’s Maniac 2000 as part of an appeal to raise funds for an artist emergency relief fund.

Your toes may never uncurl again.

Fair City and Expert Hardware

A hardware shop.

Finally.

Melanie O’Connor writes:

RTÉ and Expert Hardware have announced an exciting new three year sponsorship deal that will see the Carrigstown Expert Hardware store unveiled as part of the series when the new shop hits TV screens on Wednesday, April 15.
Expert Hardware work specifically with independently owned, family run stores in local communities across the country. Since its foundation in 2005 the group’s goal is to provide expert service and value for money to customers at a local level whilst protecting the future of local hardware stores, employing over 300 people directly and exceeding 1500 jobs indirectly.

Ger asks:

Is this the first real shop in a soap?

Anyone?

screenAnd well might she be baffled.

Jack Jones writes:

“Fair City Last night about 2 minutes from the end there is a scene in the office of The Station Bar. You can clearly see a keyboard a mouse but no screen. It is like they took it away to see the actress and forgot or did not bother putting it back or the props dept could not find it.”

Anyone?

Update: Some, though by no means all, say they can see a monitor – possible a Dell – at an impractical angle in the darkness to the left (see comments).

Let’s have a closer look:

screenshotHmm.

Perhaps we’ll never know.

UPDATE: Nope. Still no sign of it…
