Former Minister for Justice Alan Shatter, based in Naples, Florida, spoke to Going Underground on Russia Today about his book Frenzy and Betrayal: The Anatomy of a Political Assassination.
During the 15-minute interview, Mr Shatter also talked about Taoiseach Leo Varadkar, journalists, anonymous sources and the end of his political career.
The use of Shannon Airport by the US military was also discussed, in light of events in Iraq and Iran.

Ukraine Today executive producer Tetyana Pushnova called on Russia to halt its information war against Ukraine during an appearance on Russia Today live on Tuesday before RT pulled the plug.
“You are also responsible for thousands, thousands of deaths in my country. And Russia Today who are financed by Kremlin lie about my country, lie about Ukraine. That’s why I don’t want to communicate with you and I call to my international colleagues, don’t co-operate with Russia Today.”
RT’s Paula Slier reports from Donetsk and carefully sidesteps the Ukrainian President’s assertion that the Russian Army has invaded.
The story of 10 Russian soldiers getting lost and ending up 20 miles into Ukrainian territory is still being pedalled.
“Now a few days ago there were 10 Russian soldiers who mistakenly crossed over the Russian-Ukrainian border into Ukrainian territory. The incident happened at night while at a part of the border where there are very few signposts”
