…Mr Donnelly said that Government figures show that one in three pubs and restaurants are not correctly checking for Covid passes at the door.
He said that this is “not acceptable” and that this cohort needs to “step up” during the winter.
“The survey results I have and the enforcement data we have both say the same thing, that about two in every three pubs or restaurants are enforcing and that one in three is not. That is not OK, it is not acceptable for that one in three,” he told reporters.

Health Minister Stephen Donnelly is self-isolating after experiencing mild symptoms of Covid-19.
He was forced to postpone his Budget press conference due at the Department of Health this morning where he was scheduled to appear before members of the media.
The Department of Health said today he “has experienced mild symptoms of Covid-19.
“As per public health advice, Minister Donnelly immediately self-isolated and arranged a test which has returned a not-detected result.
“Minister Donnelly will continue to follow the public health advice (including working from home) and encourages anyone who experiences symptoms of Covid-19 to self-isolate and get tested straight away.”

It’s sour grapes 🍇 All those who are vaccinated took it to go on holidays, done out and drink in pubs. The stimulus was not solely health based. So now they need bang for their buck. Not one of them is saying the unvaccinated should be punished because they spread covid! No one!

Health Minister Stephen Donnelly has hinted face masks may remain as part of “sector specific measures” past October 22, and not just for public transport, shops and hospitals.
Despite Cabinet ministers signing off earlier this year on masks only remaining in those settings, Mr Donnelly opened the door to masks remaining in other situations as part of “sector specific measures”.
“The intention is that there will be continuing requirements in relation to mask wearing in a range of settings including healthcare settings, indoor retail and on public transport,” he said.
“Face masks may also continue to be needed to be worn in certain environments as part of sector specific measures to ensure a safe environment.”

The head of the WHO in Europe has expressed doubts about vaccines’ ability to put an end to the Covid pandemic, as new variants dash hopes of reaching herd immunity.
Faced with the possibility that the virus may be around for many years, health officials must now “anticipate how to gradually adapt our vaccination strategy,” in particular on the question of additional doses, Hans Kluge told reporters.
In May, the WHO director had said “the pandemic will be over once we reach 70% minimum coverage in vaccination”.

Via The Irish Times:
Up to August 31, more than 6.84 million doses of the coronavirus vaccine had been administered, with the Health Products Regulatory Authority (HPRA) receiving 14,844 reports of suspected side effects in the same period. Of these, 8,686 related to Pfizer or Moderna mRNA technology vaccines, while adenoviral vector vaccines (AstraZeneca and Janssen) accounted for 6,059 reports.
The HPRA says it received 78 reports of suspected side effects among adolescents aged 12-17 years who had received an mRNA vaccine. The agency is “closely monitoring” any reports related to teenagers and overall the symptoms are consistent with those reported in adults.
There have been 60 reports relating to inflammatory conditions of the heart in people who had received an mRNA vaccine. Of these, 18 were suspected myocarditis, 26 suspected pericarditis and 16 were a combination of the two.
Nine reports of blood clotting combined with low platelets were reported among people who had received the AstraZeneca or Janssen vaccines.
Nine reports of a rare immune disorder of the nerves, Guillain-Barré syndrome, have also been received following vaccination with AstraZeneca or Janssen
There have been 86 instances (75 involving an mRNA vaccine) where an individual who had been vaccinated subsequently passed away.

Then, they say they will have to keep locking down the community til you comply. Would you begin to feel a little suspicious?

Via Irish Examiner:
Minister for Health Stephen Donnelly said:
“Certainly the view would be that we would be open this calendar year. What we’d like is the lifting of all restrictions as soon as possible.
“We may get public health advice to keep some restrictions for some time – should we wear masks? Should we continue to wash our hands and do all of that? The public health advice will be the basics we want to keep doing.
“What we want to do is provide real certainty. It’s been a brutal year and a half, most of society and the economy is open. We are aware there are some who aren’t and have suffered hugely and we want to open them as quickly as possible and when they do open, stay open and give them clarity as to when that can happen.”
