Remember Noah Horak from Minnesota who had his motorbike nicked in Dublin city centre just a few hours into the Irish leg of his round the world tour?

Well the bike is back and in one piece, missing some fairings but apparently mechanically sound on first inspection. Currently in the care of Peter Bookey at Aaron Rider Training.

Having been obliged to buy another bike to continue his tour, Noah is currently in the UK.

An update on Noah Horak from Minnesota, whose expensive Enduro bike was stolen in broad daylight outside a hostel just eight hours after he arrived for the Irish leg of his round the world trip.

It turns out he’s been loaned a 640 Adventure (similar to the bike in the second pic above) to complete his Ireland tour by all-round daycent skin Peter Bookey of Aaron Rider Training.

Yay!

No sign of Noah’s original bike yet, sadly.

Official garda figures provided to RTÉ News show that between the start of January and the end of July, 5,989 phones were stolen. That compares to 5,002 in the same period last year and represents a 20% increase year on year.

The average value of the phones taken was approximately €250, nearly double the average value of the handsets taken during the same period last year, reflecting the increasing popularity and cost of smart phones.

According to gardaí, around 20% of mobile phones that are stolen are snatched from the owners. More than 30% are stolen from a vehicle, while one in every six is stolen in restaurants, shops or pubs.

Tamara Levy writes:

This is a message directed to the person who stole my disabled mother’s walking stick yesterday…Seriously? My Mum, who has survived a bout of cancer and a life affecting injury to her leg, uses the Drogheda Swimming Pool as a low-impact form of exercise.

The lock was broken on the door of the disabled showers, so she left her walking stick propped up outside to indicate that the cubicle was in use.

Obviously someone saw their opportunity and stole my disabled mother’s cane. Staff were alerted and are keeping an eye out, however, it is unlikely to show up as it was none of them that picked it up.

 Who does that?

May you enjoy you newly acquired walking stick, you obviously needed it so badly that you would see someone who already struggles with mobility further inconvenienced.

St Manchan’s Shrine, an intricate bronzework, was stolen this afternoon.

Suspicions were raised about a car that was seen in the area, travelling between Boher and Shannonbridge. Two males were subsequently arrested on the M5 at Ronanstown, Co Dublin, and were taken into custody.

The men are being transported back to Tullamore Garda Station for questioning in relation to the theft.
