Syriaaa

“Sweden on Tuesday became the first European Union country to announce it will give asylum to all Syrian refugees who apply.”

“All Syrian asylum seekers who apply for asylum in Sweden will get it,” Annie Hoernblad, the spokeswoman for Sweden’s migration agency, told AFP.”

“The agency made this decision now because it believes the violence in Syria will not end in the near future.”

“The decision, which will give refugees permanent resident status, is valid until further notice, added Hoernblad.

“Those granted permanent status will also be allowed to bring their families to Sweden.

…The move came as the United Nations said the number of refugees fleeing the conflict in Syria had passed two million, which the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, Antonio Guterres, called “the great tragedy of this century”.

“…it has emerged that an estimated 50 refugees fleeing Syria have been granted asylum in Ireland.”

“Justice Minister Alan Shatter said decisions still needed to be made regarding five other cases.”

“He also insisted Ireland hadn’t “turned away anyone who sought political asylum” since the violence began.”

Lenny Abrahamson, award-winning director of Garage, What Richard Did, Adam and Paul and Prosperity is to direct the screen adaptation of Emma Donoghue’s Man Booker nominated novel Room.

Room has sold over 2 and a half million copies worldwide and tells the story of a mother and child held captive in a shed.

If it’s consistency you’re looking for in directing, Lenny arguably, is yer only man.

Fair play though, in fairness.

I’ll confess that my face turned quite pale,
When I heard that John Waters got jail,
For asserting his right,
To be a selfish shite,
And then charging to moan and to wail.

For years I wanted to make a ‘Best Burger in Dublin’ blog, but I changed my mind and have started a blog called ‘The Dublin Falafel Hunt’. It follows my search for the tastiest falafel in Dublin.
Out of a list of about 20 cafes/restaurants I’ve visited 7 so far and the one that stood out for me was from Ephesus, Capel Street, Dublin: The falafel (above) was really fresh, packed with flavour and had lots of different ingredients. Complimented by tasty sauces and made freshly in the shop, I’ve yet to find one that beats it…

What you may need to know

1. This teaser is short, and pretty messed up. We like it.

2. It’s the first film in nine years by Jonathan Glazer, who did Sexy Beast (2000).

3. His follow-up, Birth (2004), got a bit of a kicking, hence the nine year break. It’s worth a gander.

4. Oh, he made the GREATEST GUINNESS AD OF THEM ALL to boot.

5. Scarlett Johansson In Scotland. That is all.

6. Reviews have been mixed, to say the least.

7. Best YouTube comment: ‘i have the weirdest boner right now’.
