car1 car2Twice now, the stunning Volvo P1800 has been mentioned as someone’s idea of a proper classic. Here’s one I found along the [Grand] canal. It was in pretty good nick. At first glance, I thought it was a VW Karmann Ghia!

car4car3The Renault 19 is an uncommon sight on the roads today. This is a post-facelift model from 1995 with a 1.4 engine. The owner has had it since the late 90s if I remember correctly.

car5car6I’m unsure of what this car is. It has a Ferrari label on the back and doesn’t look unlike one of their 1970s supercars, though a search done by a friend proved fruitless. This needs a lot of restoration and has been lying in the same spot since at least 2007, and probably a lot longer. What a shame…

Xbox OneA victory for the game consumer?

Sido writes:

Was it  John Gallen’s post on Broadsheet, that tipped the balance, I wonder? Microsoft rapidly back pedals on game ownership on the new X Box One release. Now all they have to do is sort out the bag of sh*te that is Windows 8.

729_wallaby-lions_20130621114645315411-620x349Ah here.

An enormous betting agency advertisement showing a wallaby having sex with a lion has been painted in a field near Tullamarine Airport, designed to be visible to passengers on departing and arriving planes.

The 170-metre-by-90-metre image by online bookmaker Sportsbet, features the slogans “Rooting for the wallabies” with the twitter hashtag #rootingforoz and threatens to reignite a debate about industry standards.

k-bigpicThe interdenominational Christian organisation Exodus International that sought to cure gay people of their homosexual desires has shut up shop after 37 years.

In an open letter to the LBGT community, founder Alan Chambers has apologised for the pain and hurt inflicted on people over nearly four decades saying that the group had “been imprisoned in a worldview that’s neither honoring toward our fellow human beings, nor biblical.”

There were several years that I conveniently omitted my ongoing same-sex attractions. I was afraid to share them as readily and easily as I do today. They brought me tremendous shame and I hid them in the hopes they would go away. Looking back, it seems so odd that I thought I could do something to make them stop. Today, however, I accept these feelings as parts of my life that will likely always be there. The days of feeling shame over being human in that way are long over, and I feel free simply accepting myself as my wife and family does. As my friends do. As God does.

I am sorry (Alan Chambers, Exodus International)

While out walking with her owner last night in Milltown park, Dublin 6, little Jess got spooked by something and ran off into the bushes. After 4 hours trying to find her, occasionally spotting her in the bushes along the Dodder bank on the lane that joins Milltown to O’Sheas pub on the Clonskea road, we were forced to give up – as it was 2am and pitch dark. If anyone sees her or has her, please let us know. She is a really friendly dog and very, very dear to her owner. We are very upset and have no idea what happened tonight.

NB – Thanks to all the passersby, neighbours and friends who came & tried help get her back. Thanks for any news.
