St Agnes’ Church, Crumlin, Dublin, earlier for the funeral of Peter Comerford mentioned yesterday.

Ciaran O’Driscoll writes:

More than 100 people attended including locals, members of the Defence Forces and the Gardaí. From the dignity that the priest gave in speaking about Peter, to the singer and accompanying harpist, it was a proper funeral befitting a former member of the Defence Forces. A send off that he, and everyone else, deserves to have.

‘B’ adds:

My lovely mother went to that veteran’s funeral today (her father was an early recruit to the Defence Forces). He [Peter] seems to have been a troubled soul in his later life, but the priest spoke movingly and a few tears were shed by mourners. He served in the Congo too. Bagpipes played the coffin out…

Pat Kenny interviewing Labour TD Ciaran Lynch this morning about the statement at the weekend from FG that the Cyprus solution proposed was a great Deal etc.

Gets interesting from approx 4.40 as PK gets ever more worried (about
his own cash as well no doubt) and the Labour eejit tries to fluster his way past PK’s attentions…

Unbelievably though Pat nails him at 09.20 and you can hear Kenny sweating as yer man basically says how he’s alright with the concept of someone with a large deposit to be raided for funds….

Shay Healy with a Fender stratocaster Squier guitar signed by members of the Rolling Stones at the launch of the first auction of rock memorobilia by Whyte’s auctioneers in Dublin (to be held this Sunday).

The auction, in aid of Irish Parkinson’s Research, includes these sparse Simple Minds and U2 ‘Irish tour’ posters.

Forcing promoters to rush out these lamentable efforts for separate concerts at Croke park in 1984. Apologies. This was incorrect. Please see comments.

Scantily clad persons taking part in the birth of a calf?

We’re not in Ros na Run anymore, Toto.

TG4 Note:The birth was overseen by a vet and the calf was “standing on its feet 20 minutes after the birth”.

But why?

To promote a new travel documentary series for TG4 called Wwoofáil created by Publicis Dublin. Wwoofáil/Wwoofing (World-Wide Opportunities on Organic Farms) is a trend where people combine a holiday with organic farm work to get free accommodation and food. The series begins Thursdays at 10pm on TG4, from 21st March and runs for 6 weeks.

Fair enough.

A game of contrasts – light and darkness, black and white, a man and a woman […] do contrasts attract or not? If we have a counterpart in a parallel world, can we meet and become entwined in another world? Or are we supposed to maintain the universe in balance?
