LEGO aficionado Alice Finch from Seattle spent a year making this 400,000 brick recreation of Hogwarts Castle, which won People’s Choice and Best In Show awards at the BrickCon LEGO convention last year.
Last week, it was reassembled at Emerald City Comic Con 2013 in Seattle. The completed sections – ferried to the convention centre in six SUVs – took three hours to set up.

During the vigil, passerby Kleber Ancheta (pic 3, in white) told the vigil he was forced to leave Venezuela, due to the increasing violence and “mismanagment” in the country which he blames on Chavez.

Years of neglect, vandalism and, more recently, arson has left the ‘last great Georgian mansion to be built in Dublin’ close to a ruin.
Well.
Dublin City Council yesterday confirmed that it intends to initiate legal proceedings against the owners.
Confirming In an email to environmental activist Ruadhán MacEoin:
We have been advised by the Planning Dept that in light of the change in onsite circumstances it is now proposed to initial legal action under the Planning & Development Legislation.
The building, subject of a long running campaign by An Taisce, had been owned by Aldborough Developments, part of developer Philip Marley’s Ely Properties group, which was wound up last month.
Bank of Ireland hold the deeds, according to the Land Registry, and has had a charge on the property since 2006.

Despite appearances, these cows are not wearing jetpacks. They are having their flatulence measured by Teagasc, Ireland’s Agricultural and Food Development Authority. Teagasc hopes to find a way to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions without cutting milk production.

San Francisco based artist Klari Reis creates abstract paintings inside petri dishes, using reflective epoxy polymer to depict microscopic images garnered from biotech companies.
It’s called The Daily Dish (she’s doing one a day all through 2013) and while, according to her artist’s statement, it’s intended as an ‘exploration of mankind’s complex relationship with biotechnology’, it’s also rather lovely eye-candification.
